In my oppinion, the best thing about QuickBooks Payroll is its integration with other Quickbooks products. It made it easier to manage time sheets, invoicing, and expenses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best thing about QuickBooks Payroll is its time tracking, We can create projects, add workers to that project to work, We can track the worker's locations and the time they are giving to that particular project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The worst part of all of this is that they have made it next to impossible to get help in a moment of need. First, they want you to review their knowledge articles which have not answered a single question I've had to date. Then if you game the robot you can finally access a chat agent. The chat agents are kind humans, but they do not have much power or authority to help you make necessary changes, and these conversations usually result in a "reach out by phone". They aren't able to provide you a phone number, and you are forced to put your name on a wait list for a call back which is typically 60 minutes out. I have also had scenarios where I was actively chatting with a support agent when a sudden page refresh disconnects me from the chat and provides no way to re-connect without starting completely over. I can handle friction in a tool and the need to reach out to support, but when I'm two weeks past my initial issue with still no resolution and multiple frustrating experiences, I start to become frustrated that the company is not willing to put the necessary resources in place to support their loyal customers. THIS IS a BETA software version. It is full of bugs. It does not integrate with Quickbooks cleanly; every time you have to correct a paycheck you have to call them, every time you want to rerun a paycheck you have to call them, in fact most editing functions do not work at all. The export function does not work correctly either, so you end up with multple repeats in your account ledgers. In general this software should not have been released to the public and needs hundreds of hours of programming fixes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our organization uses QuickBooks Online to track the Accounting and bookkeeping for several small entities that are unrelated to our main business but are owned by the same owner. Since the entities are never going to be consolidated, using QuickBooks Online is a simple and easy solution for managing the entities.

We use QBO as a professional accounting firm, for our own company, and for our client's bookkeeping. Being in the cloud makes it possible for us to have clients all over the county and not limited to a particular area. We are more efficient by using QBO and we can assign anyone to any client no matter where their location. This helps our outreach and increases our profitability.
Syncing banking transactions makes it really easy to know when the accounts are current. Accepting payments directly through invoicing is a great time saver. I know who has done what tasks through the audit trail. Interactive reports/hyperlinks provide personal customization for the user and provides many places to change or correct data easily.

QuickBooks Online is used by three main users at my agency including the project manager (for fixed bid and hourly invoicing), office manager (for reimbursements, hard costs, and payroll), and partners (for viewing statements and upcoming charges). Having multiple users helps divvy up the responsibilities while also keeping everyone accountable and ethical.
QuickBooks Online allows me to create "delayed charges" which helps forecast income as well as guarantee that invoicing is not forgotten. QuickBooks Online has several shortcuts to get to where I need to go faster. For example, jumping directly to a client or invoice number. My favorite feature on QuickBooks Online is that I am able to plan ahead for project invoicing and create custom reports that fit my exact needs.

Overall: Very good to outstanding overall. The software itself is very good and keeps improving. Also, as the market leader, they have many local CPA's that integrates into the software as "local experts", so when I have a question I can typically ask my CPA firm and they can help, or whenever there has been a problem that they can't solve, they are able to contact support on my behalf. Overall the system works pretty well.

Overall: A reliable and accurate service providing pretty much everything the small business needs to generate a payroll and to remit taxes and tax filings in a timely basis. Good customer service. When new state taxes were introduced, it was sometimes difficult to get the calculation of taxes due correct and, in my case, QuickBooks was never able to successfully remit the Washington Family & Medical Leave tax.

Overall: It is unfortunate they do not have discounted pricing available to wholesale billing accounts for accountant users. The pricing is higher than most other payroll platforms.
