I tried for one month an was sold on it, so I took the 2 yr-offer they have on sale right now. As a freelance photographer, I loved Luminar Neo for its simple design and AI-powered enhacnements. I loved using it to replace they sky and portrait retouching for wedding photoshoots. Overall, the editing was much faster and simpler than industry leaders like Lightroom. Their support team is great by the way and are quick to respond even for queries that may not exactly be linked to their software. I have a secondary laptop that initially did not have the latest graphics driver to support Luminar. Lisa from their support team figured this out and pointed me in the right direction to get my laptop to be compatible with the software. This effort is what prompted me to take the time to give this review. My previous interactions with their support team have all been great as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Unfortunately, the way that Skylum (the vendor behind Luminar) does business is awful for several reasons. One, when you buy a lifetime license for Luminar, you expect that it will receive ongoing development. Well, soon enough, they'll discontinue the product you just purchased and release a "new" product so that you have to buy the new version to benefit from ongoing development. This is very disingenuous. Two, as another user pointed out, Skylum operates like a marketing agency rather than a software vendor. You'll be bombarded by marketing emails, and worse, annoying "offers" every time you run Luminar. The app appears to have the option to disable those ads, but the disable option "conveniently" does not work. Third, you can suggest improvements in the Luminar user forum but those suggestions are ignored and any critical commentary (which would help further the product and the user experience) is not well received by Skylum. Luminar seems to draw heavily from your computer resources. When I was using Luminar 4, I noticed that just starting up the software made my computer fans kick on, and it pretty much stayed at top speed the whole time I was using it. The software is also rather slow and lacks responsiveness, so it takes a few seconds to respond every time you change anything. Definitely slows down the workflow. The AI uses a lot of power and causes delays and site lags. A mobile version should be developed. When downloading and importing my photos, there is a glitch whereby I then have duplicates I don't need/want. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The results, unfortunately, are not great though. The tools are limited, and if you know how to use Photoshop or Lightroom, you can achieve better results. I recommend this software for beginners or if you don't have time to process your images with more powerful softwares.

It lags, like really laggy while editing, and exporting as well. Sometimes it takes up to 30 secs to 45 secs to export a photo. Where photoshop or lightroom is way faster.

I purchased Luminar AI after being booked for multiple events this summer, meaning we would have a high volume of photos but only a few that would be featured and need precise manual editing. Luminar AI saved the day and processed hundreds of photos. This was the busiest season we've ever had and we couldn't have finished everything on time without Luminar AI. You'll see that the AI is mentioned in both the pros and cons section. Rather or not Luminar AI is right for you may come down to personal preference. If you enjoy having your eye behind a lens much more than the editing process, Luminar AI is worth checking out. If, like me, you prefer to be in control of the entire process from start to finish when possible, you may find that you don't need the AI as much and it may just become a hinderance. The core editing and design features are functional and on a professional level so either way this product shouldn't be quickly discounted.

I'm forced to work with a lot of sub-par photos shot by staff in the field. These photos are featured on our website and in printed materials, so they need to be at a higher standard. Photo lemur makes it possible to use the images I receive in far more cases than I normally would and eliminates the need to engage a pro for simple things.

It's been positive but just missing the mark a bit. It does 75% of what I need and then I find myself going back to light room or photoshop to finish it up. I don't have any problems with the UI, it's capabilities, I just don't think it fits my personal needs at the moment since I only shoot real estate

Overall, I liked Luminar, especially the AI part of it. It gave me good and versatile options, although the overall output wasn't as high quality as I hoped it would be.

So many tools but with some semblance of simplicity if you're not needing all the power this app provides. Unfortunately, the UI has been degraded since earlier versions in favor of overly large icons and buttons. As well, it still is painfully slow during export operations. Now, with the subscription model, it's evident Skylum isn't listening to its customers. Edit: The presets presentation is evidently geared to the developer, not the user. There's no logic to how the presets are shown to th...

It is nice as you can use AI and get quite good result. However the app is using too much marketing. For instance they promote a new revolution software called Luminar AI which in reality is a couple of new models added. So it s rather an update of luminar 4 than a big improvement. Same story is true from luinar3 to luminar4. Another big issue is speed. Even with a recent machine it takes ages to save a picture and they do not use the gpu at all unless lightroom...

The editing capabilities are quite good. It has some filters and effects that would require significant work in other applications. But they over-marketed and over-sold their digital asset mgmt (think catalog) in 2017. They failed to deliver it until a year later and even then it is not a true DAM. Users are very angry with Skylum, and many including me have gone to another product for DAM. I still use it as a plug in.
