Best part is you can compare two folders it will not only help you with text comparison but also help you figure out the missing files and you can keep opening the folders and it will keep comparing that UX is very helpful. Beyond Compare is used within our development teams to provide a robust comparison solution amongst text files as well as for use in recursively comparing directory structures on disk. Not only does Beyond Compare highlight differences between files, it also provides easy to understand merging capabilities, making it very simple to merge differing files into a single file.
Text File Comparisons - Beyond Compare provides multiple views into comparing files against each other, and can even do 3-way comparisons. Text File Merging - Beyond Compare can help the user merge two differing files into a single cohesive file encompassing all changes. It also does a good job of highlighting merge conflicts before a user conducts a merge. File structure comparison - Beyond Compare can compare two directory structures on disk and identify the differences in the file lists between them. This is incredibly handy for installer development.

I've been a user of Beyond Compare (BC) for over 20 years. I use it nearly every day to compare files, folders, network drives. I search for a file and BC will ignore (when needed) folder structure making easy to locate misplaced files or documents. BC is a side to side viewer/comparer of names for anything on a drive. It is very visible, showing the same, orphans (left or right side), newer, missing, etc., all useful conditions. Information, location, duplicates, newest are among the many choices. Sessions are remembered. BC does such an excellent job, I've never had a need to reach for another "Beyond Compare" software. I know of nothing it does not do.

As far as I know, Beyond Compare is used in the Engineering Department. It makes our life easier to compare multiple files or directories. And it is the best in the industry. It saves us a lot of time in the code review process and also in all the steps of the software development life cycle.

Beyond compare has been presented to me be a friend many years ago and ever since it has been my reliable companion in all of my projects. I've used Beyond Compare in many different situations but mostly in Software Development projects. All this was before the Continuous Development became the standard. So many times I had to compare program sources between multiple developers and the test environment and later between test and production environment. Without BC this would have been a nightmare. But BC is more than that, I've used it to compare documentation folders between my notebook and centralized customer network directory to make sure the latest versions were always on the right spot. And finally I've used BC to compare remote servers with the site comparison. Once you've done the file comparision there are many viewers available to compare .CSV files, text files, binary files, images, you name it, BC's got it!

We use BC to sync data between multiple machines -- in fact, there are approximately 30 different automated batch jobs that sync critical data from one location to another in our environment, in addition to manually-fired jobs to sync data to USB-connected HDD's. I also use BC to sync data from my desktop to my laptop so that I have everything with me when I travel.

I am so happy to have purchased this (version 3) after using the trial quite a while ago. It is fantastic, for comparing so many different things. I use it for backing up, finding duplicates, keeping files that are the latest and dumping the older, seeing the various changes you have made in a document, slight changes of images using tolerance... the list goes on. I honestly am surprised at how many functions this helps my workflow while on the computer - I needed it for doing basic comparisons...

I am using this software on both Windows and Linux for over 10 years now and I can't do without it. I think that every serious programmer should have at least this software in their toolset. The price of 30 USD (standard) or 60 USD (professional) per license is a very good investment. No returning license costs either. And above all, it's very reliable software. Disclaimer: I am a happy user of Beyond Compare and not affiliated to any one working at Scooter Software or their owners.
