Slack outdid themselves on the last update, they made it look really nice and almost like what Discord looks which is nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Slack transforms team communication like never before! Our workflow has been completely revolutionised by its flexible capabilities and easy-to-use interface. Sending a message to coordinate cross-functional testing is now as easy as integrating Lambdatest with Slack. Our development process has changed significantly as a result of Lambdatest's interface with Slack, enabling more efficient communication and quicker problem-solving. Because the integration is so simple, we never needed customer support. We use it on a daily basis as a primary medium of communication. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best thing that I like about Slack is its user interface, it's very intuitive and user-friendly making communication very easy. Now coming to features, it has a large number of features, starting from messaging to voice calls, then video calls and canvas features that they recently made live. It has a very fast search and share functionality, I can easily share any file seamlessly and find any old files, documents, links, etc. It also has a lot of integrations available like Drive, Gmail, confluence, etc which also makes monitoring very easy. I have to use it every day for my office work. I am using both free and paid versions of Slack. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don't really like having to check a second thing other than my email. Sticking to one or the other would make my life simpler. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This is completely useless and unnecessary. Why on Earth would we use a program like this when we could just be using OLD FASHIONED EMAILS? Name ONE benefit this system has over email. It's pointless. It's just frustrating to be told that I HAVE to use this by my editors. It's one more thing to keep track of. Why would I travel to Slack to check for updates/new messages when you could just EMAIL me the information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My company uses Slack to have immediate and direct communication from within each department. This eliminates the need for emails, text messages, and other tools that add bloat the employee workflows. By utilizing Slack we have been able to see a significant increase in productivity and communication has skyrocketed.

Well we are on our second go around with Slack. We implemented it many years ago but it fizzled out. About a year ago we resurrected the product. I just don't know about how it fits in to our enterprise. There are some areas that use it a lot to keep track of say network or SaaS issues which are timely in nature. However there are others who just don't need to use it for much. I would say there is about 20% of our division that uses it actively. Unfortunately, much of the other 80% sees it as an annoyance. Furthermore, some of the 20% that uses it seems to think that they need to communicate what they say on Slack in a duplicate manner via email or vice versa.
Totally annoying and disruptive to getting anything done. Seems to go down the most out of all our cloud services, and we got a bunch of them. The UI is just bad. Not intuitive. Not a good value.

Slack was used to collab amongst teams and had quick and easy chats where necessary to get information across easily, especially through the beginning of the pandemic. We found in the end that Microsoft Teams was a better option for the size of our organization and handled our needs better.
Better search of chat history. Find files easier.

For us, we started using Slack after the Google Talk windows app was no longer supported or available. We tried to use Google Hangouts but were hugely disappointed. We are in a small office environment of less than 20 employees all in one location so our instant messaging needs may be different than others.
I may be unique in that I would like to be able to enable notification for all activity, rather than just mentions or direct messages. The windows app can be a little slow sometimes when searching for an individual I want to direct message.

Slack has made it much easier for us to keep our discussions focused and organized using different channels for each purpose. The ability to integrate almost any tool has helped us keep track of everything from a single place which has helped us ensure that our entire workflow is streamlined.

As an application that I use across multiple devices and multiple professional and personal contexts, Slack manages to deliver an effective, efficient, and truly seamless collaborative hub. Not only do we use it here at AlternativeTo, but many companies and both formal and informal working groups use Slack every day to maximize collaborative productivity while minimizing the effort needed to ensure that everyone is on the same page. With the ability to create workspaces that can house seemingly...

The UI is consistently unfriendly and getting worse with each change. It's a very busy, brightly colored (toddler friendly color scheme) chat tool with so-so voice chat functions which seems to be progressively getting less stable than Skype for Business (a bar so low that they have to try very hard to be that bad). They've been introducing more and more "features" to get in the way, such as mandatory channels, the emoji that is mandatory, unprofessional plugins that they encourage you to...

Slack used to be a great collaboration and communication tool. We used it a lot in different non-profit organisations as a free version. Now, they free tier became so crooked. They would allow to see the conversations for the last 3 months. Everything older than that will be hidden from participants until they pay to Slack or the workspace owner upgrades the workspace to a paid plan. For not so wealthy non-profits it became almost useless. Multiple workspace owners are now consider to move to D...

I like Slack for the most part, but there's room for improvement. 1. Sometimes it logs you out for no reason and if you don't have a mobile phone with you for 2FA, tough luck. 2. Notifications come and go as they please. It's not even funny, I often receive notifications about messages way too late. Please fix this. Otherwise - great software.
