It is an open source platform, so the economic investment is much lower. With this tool you can create almost any type of e-commerce as it is highly customizable using modules and templates or themes Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

PrestaShop was used for a trial we ran as we launched an online storefront to sell a handful of handmade goods from another country. It was used across our organization by several individuals to upload, customize, and post products for customers to purchase. It solves a lot of the issues presented to an organization that wants to sell items as this app provides all the functionality needed.

We are currently using it to run our e-commerce website. Our daily sales are all used via website, which we've designed through PrestaShop. It's being used across our whole organization. We currently don't have a warehouse or physical shop, so all our items are being sold online and delivered to our customers directly. Currently PrestaShop is working exactly as we want it to. There were a few limitations using PrestaShop 1.6, but with the current update to 1.7, we haven't had really any business issues making use of PrestaShop.
Quite easy to use compared to other open-source e-commerce software. Has lots of free plugins to help you set up a great basic shop. You can easily create your own unique site. Lots of payment option plugins and you can use them to sell globally.

We were recommended PrestaShop by a consultancy group that helped us with some BigCommerce customization. PrestaShop is an open source software and we thought we'd have more leeway in modification than we have with BigCommerce. We chose PrestaShop to serve as our e-commerce platform for our primary website and several supplementary websites.
PrestaShop has very little online documentation compared to other e-commerce platforms PrestaShop's answer to everything is, "oh, there's a module for that" Cha-ching PrestaShop is not very intuitive and the back end is clumsy to work with

Last year we started the process to move from an outdated Magento installation to a new e-commerce platform. After reviewing several systems, we found PrestaShop met our needs best and started the migration process. During the configuration process we noticed that the system can get very complex and especially the slow performance caused us a lot of headaches. In due time we had to upgrade our server resources to a least be able to work with the system without running into Ajax issues. Another very annoying problem are random white screens, especially in the admin area.
Very slow. Google complains about loading times, means the ranking will be bad! Very unstable--loading a module can crash the back office. Hard to restore--even a full restore sometimes won't work. Needs mostly additional modules, which are not free Display module positions are template dependent. Once a template is changed, Prestashop does not remember the old settings. For updates it's recommended to change to the default template--this means all customization done on our template is gone. Weak reporting

PrestaShop started being used in our company because I decided to buy it and thus allow our clients to buy properties more quickly without having to carry out a long interaction process with us. When we founded our real estate company, I bought and implemented PrestaShop on our website so that our clients could add the property they liked the most to their cart, and pay for a part of the property with common electronic payment methods, such as PayPal or credit card . PrestaShop brought us excellent benefits during the first months, it was a platform that helped us make many sales, it made it possible for our clients to be able to choose their property more easily, adding it to the cart and clicking the "buy" button, in addition, our clients they could quickly pay for a portion of the property with digital methods, which progressively spurred negotiations. It brought very good benefits during the time he was in our company, however, we stopped using PrestaShop because we wanted to implement a much simpler system on our website that would allow customers to make direct inquiries with us about the available properties. Currently, our clients can access our website and make inquiries by mail or mobile phone, using the code of each property, this allows clients to know what they are buying and to learn more about the property before making any payment.

Last in a series of failed attempts to get a 21st century ecommerce site. I have a 20th century one but hoped for better. Two problems with the open source ones are (a) Over-large companies funded by venture capital or just ambition, that half-finish a neat project and then sell it half finished and try to cover-up the mistake by selling modules for the most obvious basic things like checkout and shipping. This applies to Drupal Commerce, a lot, to some of the various Wordpress carts, and to Prestashop. (b) Mission creep by which an app that installs onto shared hosting suddenly becomes too large to run on that host. This applies to Drupal projects and probably to Prestashop a bit too. So: the experience is the same as with Drupal Commerce and bits of wordpress stuff. i am a lot happier now I am on a forked version of prestashop. Oh talking of "fork" and "open source", this is a DIY project with some free help maybe on message boards and with free installation from software installers on most hosting, but mainly paid in hours rather than pounds. When i spend money it was on ill-judged attempts to find a one page checkout module that turned-out not to cope with a particular server or to solve the specific problems of the default checkout.

Overall I would say Prestashop could definitely work well for a beginner that wanted to build different websites without all the plugins that come with WP Woocommerce, or the basic look of Wix and Weebly. Its a sweet spot and gives beginners and advanced users the ability to create amazing online stores. SEO was not the easiest to do though, and if you go too deep without propper knowledge you really can mess up the whole thing. Id suggest using it only based on your skill level. But from my experience, this is one of my favoirte ecommerce platforms.

Its a great shopping cart software , it only needs the developer of the shopping cart to make the admin dashboard to be easy to use, then all countries needs to be added by default in their future versions. As for the front end design, its perfect! then

Overall, despite the fact that addons like premium themes, plugins and modules can be quite expensive, once one learns how to work around the small glitches, it is the best tool around to get an online ecommerce website without hiring an agency.

very simple tool and full of bugs. I've tried prestashop coming from Woocommerce and was baffled by the fact that to do the most simple things in prestashop you need to pay some random extension 30. I.e. to add a meta tag in the header, there aren't extensions that can do that for free (wtf?). Yes there is a way to edit the source code and do it yourself, but so does Wordpress and someone had the vision to encapsulate that hack into a plug in and make it easy for users) Woocommercer...

Prestashop is very slow, does not have many feature, but first and foremost it is a buggy piece of shite and should disappear off the internet right now! Upgrade to ThirtyBees immediately and leave this stinking, festering pus-filled wound that is prestashop behind. NOW! Make yourself happy again!

Not good! Requires lots of hacks to get to work properly. Bug-ridden. Lots of badly written expensive plugins. Looks pretty but once you really start using it it falls apart pretty quickly.

PrestaShop could be a great alternative to Magento if it were not for one thing-- PrestaShop lacks the ability to do partial shipments.
