Yellowfin editing and dashboard building is extremely cumbersom. You need to be extrememly well versed in their platform to get started and bring anything to life. There's virtually no in between from getting started to power user. If you want anything production ready you need to be an expert, or leverage an outside firm to support you from start to finish. The team that can support you is also a single agency located in Australia. They are helpful, but have limited resources to support all Yellowfin customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Unable to apply conditioning rules on multiple columns at once. Can only do one column at a time; thus it is time consuming and tedious. Some users cannot open/view reports while others can even when the users are setup with the same access to the reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The VSV team develops reports and dashboards quickly, simply and dynamically. Yellowfin has an easy to use and intuitive user interface (clients do not need deep training). We managed to create reports and panels with maps thanks to location intelligence. In addition, the integration of Yellowfin with predictive analytical tools and Big Data processing such as R, UDF, Spark are ideal for creating rich applications for end users. Yellowfin allows the connection of multiple data sources.

Yellowfin BI provides web-based access to data from all performance areas of the university. For example, the portal can be used to retrieve aggregated numbers about students (bachelor, master and doctoral), publications, and external funding. Furthermore, it can create detailed reports that provide a structured overview of contract durations, project budgets and available positions. The system aims to efficiently complete internal and external reporting requirements (e.g. monitoring reports for study and teaching, the delivery of rankings, reports for donors) and to reduce the growing workload for reporting tasks. The availability and usability of the data supports internal and external decision-making, controlling, and the management by university employees. This will significantly strengthen the strategic management of the university on all levels. The portal is available to all employees of the university as self-service BI.

We used Yellowfin to try to display device health and use data. We have multiple projects with differing analytics needs and we tried to apply the Yellowfin model to them.
Data looks really bad It takes too many steps to get the data to show Company does not help with startups that cannot find value with the tool.

Primarily as a post analytical visualization tool. Our team is about 8 people which include about 3 business side of users. Typically we give them the information to then get ready for presentation and make look good for the sales pitch.It was great for the most part until they removed the ACL function

Yellowfin came as a package within our audit analytics suite (ACL), which was being used as a post-analytics visualization tool. It was used exclusively by our audit team with 5 developers and ~15 business users. The tool was great for the time we used it, however ACL went away from using Yellowfin and decided to do most of the visualization with their in-house tool. Overall, the Yellowfin tool didn't catch-on the way it had intended and was somewhat limited because of the learning curve for SQL and developing.
The tool was somewhat clunky to use at times (specifically the mapping functionality). Could use some tips from Tableau to understand the "Apple" like design and simplicity of developing. Should have worked closer with the supporting vendor as the tool did not feel seamless in how it operated with ACL and their data/analytics tools at the time. Yellowfin was a tool that completed the task we initially asked it to do, however upon further research, we rated other tools to be more capable and user friendly. With a little improvement Yellowfin could continue rising into a great analytics tool.

I have been using Yellowfin for our customers to use on our cloud project management platform (PieMatrix). I spent a good deal of time looking at other BI options. The reason I chose Yellowfin was 1) their user interface and customer end experience is very clean and modern, which reflects well with our PieMatrix "Pie" project tool, 2) the Yellowfin price value was much higher than any other BI tool I reviewed, and 3) they were the best choice for managing end-customer users who have different data sources in a multi-tenant environment. I would also like to share that our experience with their current sales and customer team has been great. They have bent over backwards to help me get the best plan for our customer base. And most importantly, our customers using our Yellowfin integration have been very happy with the report output.

We are a small company bringing data visualization to a market that is data rich, yet unsavvy about the insights it can offer. After much research and trial, we landed on Yellowfin two years ago as the best choice for us. There is not a problem or situation we have run into yet that Yellowfin could not address; especially with the assistance of the US based support team. Yellowfin worked with us closely to understand our business and fashioned an arrangement that met our needs nicely. Overall, we've had a great experience with Yellowfin. Setup was easy and we were getting insightful analysis very quickly after adopting. We really like using Yellowfin. While the lack of cloud services and coding to customize are minor issues, we do not have much to complain about. It's very user-friendly and we have easily been able to teach others how to use it. The fact that the program is useable on both Mac and PC makes it a great option. The program is certainly worth the cost.
