There are many things I like about Thoughtspot since I started using it for my office work. - AI-based features and natural searches to discover insights based on un/structured data that is available on the cloud and on premises. - The user interface is very client-friendly - The insights help me to make very informative decisions for work-related purposes. - Ability to understand data trends on the business over time. There is nothing at all that I dislike about Thoughtspot as they have been able to live up to my expectations all the time. The only improvement I wish to see is the quick responsiveness to customer support inquiries as sometimes they take a few hours - 1 day to get back with an answer to the technical issues that we undergo. I highly recommend using Thoughspot for anyone willing to make decisions based on the data visualizations brought by analyzing on-cloud and on-premise data with a bunch of AI features powered by Thoughtspot. Thoughtspot also allows you to integrate other enterprise apps to make the decision-making more accurate. Thoughtspot solves a lot of problems for my business and my job. - Ability to use it with low code knowledge - Saves time and costs by automating data integration, modeling and data visualizations. - Thoughtspot is economically highly beneficial and the pricing is very reasonable.

Thoughtspot is one of the best tools I have come across so far that enabled me to discover valuable business insights with Thoughtspot's AI based features and general search tools. Thoughtspot is very user friendly and anyone in our company including me can use the software with no prior software coding knowledge. Everything about Thoughtspot is very good. There is nothing much to dislike about the software but I really wish if they could reduce the pricing options a little bit especially the standard package. Apart from that Thoughtspot stands out to be a great software. ThoughtSpot is a highly recomended software for any business if they are highly cocerned on making progressive management decisons to have a better performing team and boosting sales. The main benefit we are finding from Thoughspot is that it has enabled us to integrate both on-premise data and cloud data together to make informed decisions with great visual elements. Also, Thoughtspot let's us to integrate so many other software to the app as well, so we can take the best benefit from the data that is on those software to assist our decisions.

The things best about ThoughSpot are: 1. The user interface is extremely well thought out. It is extremely easy to use. In fact, it just took me half an hour to learn and start building pinboards on ThoughtSpot. Even our business users who do not have technical background could pick it up easily. This gave them self service ability as well 2. The costing model is extremely good as well. Seeing that now there are a huge number of users for any report in a large company, pricing based on storage space instead of number of licenses is a very good model 3. The company listens: we kept putting in various requests of what should be added to TS, one being materialized views and in the next release it was added as a feature. The feedback mechanism is very good The functionality is limited as compared to industry standard BI tools like Tableau. Especially in two areas: 1. Customizing layouts, colors, graph types is not that simple and often times not possible. There are only five sizes present, limited colors and graph types. This often times means that we are not able to deliver what the client wants. 2. SQL functions like window functions which can be readily coded in other platforms are not present in ThoughtSpot. This puts unnecessary pressure on the data model to be specifically tailored for TS and therefore less reusable. 3. There is a lack of community support at the moment if we face any new problems or constraints since it is a new tool 4. Currently live connection to data is not possible, only Excel extracts can be uploaded to build reports There should be quite a number of considerations before you decide to use ThoughtSpot: 1. Number of users: Pricing is better in TS if he user base is large 2. Functionality required: Do not use ThoughtSpot for extremely complex dashboards. It is for moderate level business reporting at the moment 3. Type if users: If there are more business users, or people with limited tech background, go for it In our project we were building performance reports for claims handling process of a large Australia based insurer. The key problems why we used TS was: 1. The pricing model: The old reports were scattered across multiple platforms including Tableau. A large user base meant that license costs were way more than set up cost of TS 2. We also wanted to give business users the ability to play around with the data, and TS gave us that ability

Super easy to create front end analytical dashboards for naive users unlike the any other tool in the market, this tool is easier to learn, especially for business users.Apart from this, this is also delivering the data fastest as well, then leading visualization software available. Few tricks and twiks, this tool has all the capabilities of leading BI reporting tools in the market. Setting up the data needs a full fledged data expert who also has complete data architecture knowledge of all the systems of an organization. In addition to this, it also would take up large amount of time to setup the design flow, which could be cumbersome task and lead to confusions for the users as well. For small companies and start ups it could be disguise because of the time consumption it takes before one can actually do any reporting. Unless you are full fledged organization and willing invest good amount money and time, I would recommend using other leading tools As they say, reporting is underlying need to run and grow exponentially any business successfully. Basics problem we are trying to solve here using this tool is self service analytics for users and minimizing any kind of dependencies on technical teams for creating advanced analytical dashboards. Once data setup is done for an organization (which could take big amount time) and users are in the systems they could be given a quick demos and training on the usage of this tool, business users can create perfectly and fine tunes reporting dashboards.

The marketing messages and the promise of being able to search for insights than have to use dashboards or clicks. - Horrible sales process. Cookie-cutter demos, they were just lazy not to spend any effort to create a demo for what was relevant for us i.e. how would a sales funnel look like, or product usage trends. - Sales team reminded us of car-salesmen constantly trying to tell how great their product was without any empathy for customer needs or goals - Incompetent customer success team - doesn't have basic understanding of datawarehouses, data models, only focuses on showing features in the tool. - We are more than 6 months into our one-year contract, and have created zero pinboards, zero adoption in the company - Cloud edition is a joke, half the features don't work and are half baked. Basic features like editing/formatting fields seem too hard to use. - Buy this tool at your own peril, if you have an army of BI developers that can baby sit this retarded product. Don't fall for their marketing messages. Run a rigorous POC where you have them show exactly what you want done. Don't settle for their cookie-cutter demo (who knows if all of it is hard-coded) The basic problem is getting to use Thoughtspot. We haven't been able to use the damn product in 6 months.

I work with a retail giant and help them visualise their data using ThoughtSpot which makes it easy for them to take business decisons based on facts and not intuition. The software is new and is still being updated constantly which is a good sign for a company
    1. The tool charges you based on the amount of storage you use, unlike other software which take a one time licensing fee. 2. The tool uses Machine Learning to implement NLP(Natural Language Processing) which allows you to query using plain English sentences 3. The tool does not require a lot of technical knowledge and hence is best for the business people 4. It provides you a SQL query for any search you do
    1. The software has some issues like failing to save worksheets sometimes. 2. There are not a lot of variety of graphs to choose from 3. The Answers take a lot of time to process 4. No option for live connection to the warehouse

Our organization has had the ThoughtSpot appliance on-prem for about a year. ThoughtSpot hosted a workshop with each division within our organization to establish viable proof of concepts (POCs). Through the workshop, we were able to rank the POC options and then execute an SOW for our most viable option. By the time the SOW was completed, that particular division was "all-in" with the application. It has been extremely helpful for the division in answering questions using the data we already have within our databases. We think of ThoughtSpot as a compliment to Tableau. Tableau does beautiful things with visualizations, but it can only answer specific questions as the designer created it. With Tableau, we can drill down as the answers create more questions without having to continue to recreate new dashboards. That has been the most helpful aspect of the application for our users. Since the first POC was so successful, we engaged ThoughtSpot for a second POC/SOW with a different division that we felt would be the most challenging. We completed that second POC even more smoothly than the first. If we can implement ThoughtSpot in our most challenging division within the organization, then we can use it anywhere.
The most impressive part about ThoughtSpot is the people. Every ThoughtSpot employee that we have encountered has been incredibly helpful and genuine in their desire to help us make the most of the application. They weren't just there to sell us a product and then leave us to our own devices. They truly want to make sure that we are successful in our implementation and that we are getting the most out of the application. Their implementation process is super clean and they maximized the time with our engineers to ensure that our infrastructure was best suited for the appliance. And while they would prefer to work in the cloud, they understood our desire to be on-prem and knew exactly how to work with hour specific architectural structure. They trained our team so well in how the appliance works that we were able to handle the next implementation with little support from the ThoughtSpot engineers. Yet, they always made themselves available to us when we got stuck on something.
Ability to drill down into questions on the fly. Easy-to-read pinboards for non-technical executives, including natural language questions. Ability to join multiple databases so data can be analyzed across the organization. SpotIQ: showing us insights to our data that we didn't even think to ask about.
The visualizations aren't quite as clean as other leaders in the viz space. Difficult to customize the visualizations. The application is still in its younger years and still needs more time to be fully developed.

ThoughtSpot has been selected to replace most of our general reporting implementations. We want to spend more time on data quality and less time on custom report churn as ThoughtSpot is providing us the ability to go this route. Currently our legacy systems have been integrated into ThoughtSpot. We still have new platforms and other service lines that need to get integrated which the company is ready to have one place for analytical reporting to be done. The problem that ThoughtSpot solves is wasted time on custom report development that generally has to go through several iterations to answer the questions the business is initially asking. ThoughtSpot reduced that time and cost by 1000% by allowing the business users to determine what answers they really are trying to extract out of the data set by having direct access to all the data for a specific focus area.
We have found for general and in-depth reporting ThoughtSpot is perfect. We have identified that in some cases it's better to grab the flow of events as you need to see them prior to pushing into ThoughtSpot so we are not dependant on using group_max to find the date an event happened because as with all reporting systems, views on top of views on top of views can eventually be a performance issue.
Speed of aggregation is is unmatched with other analytics tools. Visualization is instantaneous in most interactions which gives the users the Google response time we have been conditioned to in this day and age. The business is empowered to create their own custom dashboards for their focus area.
Regression testing for all existing functionality to ensure smooth upgrade to existing worksheets, dashboards, etc., that have been created on prior versions. Ability for modifications to underlying source tables to propagate changes throughout all worksheets built on top of source data. Currently if you have to modify a relationship field or primary key definitions, you have to recreate everything sitting on top of that source which as time goes on it makes it very problematic to address relationship issues that have been uncovered over time. group_max performance

ThoughtSpot is a very important data analysis software for our company and department that has been used because it has been collaborating in deep and accurate analysis based on different graphs, databases, tables, and illustrative panels for business decision making. We have already had experience with several types of software of this type, but the ThoughtSpot software is the one that has more assertiveness in facts. Its level of customization is greatly improved in the interface and brings better quality in the presentation of results and reports. Technical support is another strong point because it has a fast and punctual service in solving the problem or question.
It is a cloud software with great BI analysis and artificial intelligence capabilities and excellent real-time data analysis capabilities in graphs and dashboards and data export in reports. We recommend it to anyone interested in this kind of intelligent and accurate information analysis technology that can aid decision-making, business, and development. The insights we use are always reliable and help us every day. I recommend technical support because they always helped us to clear doubts about the software and features.
User-friendly and customizable interface. Function to create personalized reports and rich in details of the analyzed data. Very fast and accurate in the content filter. Smart dashboard, graphs and tables to illustrate the information to the analyst. Real time analysis.
Graphs are excellent ways of visualizing the data, but I feel like there are very few options available in terms of choice. It can be improved. It's complex for beginners. Training or intensive is required to learn all the features and get the most out of the software.

We are embedding ThoughtSpot into our website. External customers (financial advisors) will be able to get a summary of how their retirement plan participants are doing as far as being on target to retire successfully from a pre-built pinboard. They can then modify or start a new search as they see fit. We use row-level security so people can only see data for their plan, and have pre-aggregated data with no row-level security so they can compare to the industry without seeing details of plans that are not theirs. We also use column-level security to hide things like an SSN column, or a formula to mask the SSN based on what group the user is in.
ThoughtSpot works very well for AdHoc queries by users. In the past it was always a slow request process to IT to generate a specific report, and then lots of back and forth to get it adjusted. I don't feel that it works really well for external customers who can't have any training. The searching isn't as intuitive as it seemed in the sales presentation. The natural language feature should help significantly with this.
Very fast. The in-memory solution seems to respond very quickly. Very easy to type something and get a nice visual with little effort. Everything can be shared with other uses very easily.
Until the natural language search is available, an external customer with zero training is going to have some issues. Everyone is spoiled by searching the way we speak so that feature will be great when available. Why can't I thumbs up/down an insight that was generated for me like I can when I run an analysis myself? You constantly get popups about saving before losing changes. It would be nice if it only popped up when there was an actual change. For example, when I change something and then change it back, I shouldn't get a 'do you want to save' popup.

We are planning on using ThoughtSpot to enable users with Self Serve Analytics under our Single Family Analytics group. We have heavy report users both internal/external to Fannie Mae. There was a need from Users for self service when it came to capabilities around generating analytics and getting more insights. We have piloted this capability with some users and are looking forward to opening up to our full stream of users in next few months.
It is well suited when there is need for Performance and Self Serve analytics.
Self Serve Capability Performance Spot IQ insights
Object level Migration capability and automated deployment features. This was an important capability we had challenges with, as a standard SDLC we wanted to avoid manually creating pinboards in production. We have lower environment and production boxes and wanted to have the capability of migrating the tested reports in lower environment to production. We did not want the full backup and restore and needed more native support for migrating only the objects which were tested in lower environment. More controls and users for Unix Shell. We had issues sometimes with the limitation on User IDs in ThoughtSpot ,mainly with the Shell Users. It would be helpful if ThoughtSpot could provide the capability to on-board new users. More visibility into the back-end generated SQLs would be very helpful. Currently, the UI feature is very good, but during the development phase of the reports, and while validating the reports, it would be more helpful to provide an option for the user to see the underlying SQLs.

While Thoughtspot runs on "keyword search" technology, it needs the users to import data and build the data model in thoughtspot which creates a duplicate copy of your data mart. Answer Rocket uses "NLP (Natural Language Processing)" to work on your existing database and while the queries may be a little slow it does not create the need to load, store and maintain a duplicate copy of your data mart.
Thoughtspot is a very powerful tool if you want data insights quickly - it can process huge datasets quickly. It has a fantastic customer support system. Thoughtspot is not meant for detailed analysis of data, please do not compare this with tools like tableau that offer a far superior range of visuals and functions to build effective data analytics solutions. Thoughtspot also does not offer the flexibility to deploy the app on-premise without buying pre-configured hardware from the organisation.
It's a Google for data Thoughtspot can process huge amounts of data smoothly It is generally very fast with rendering visuals on large datasets Great support staff
Thoughtspot does not have a mobile app It cannot perform group by functions effectively Not meant for complex visualizations Not flexible enough for users to build combination charts
