The mailing lists, the tags, and the editor are all fine. The automation is also pretty easy to create, and they work perfectly. Actually, I used to like AC a lot as I have been using it for two years Just out of the blue, they blocked all possibilities to link AC with woowommerce or WordPress. The most important thing you want is that when people buy something from you, they are automatically registered in AC so you can contact them later. It is the basics of every e-mail marketing. This simple action is now blocked in every way unless you pay an extremely high price to either AC or to Zapier . For every small or medium business, this isn't affordable. So now we have to switch to another e-mail marketing tool and re-program everything. If you want to start as a new entrepreneur, don't do it! You will be sorry. The solution they come up with is, of course, to upgrade. This means doubling the cost! But it worked for two years using a straightforward plug-in, which they now blocked. Since we are also at the limit of our contacts, we would need to upgrade from 948 dollars per year to 2748 dollars per year, just to have this connection which, I think, is basic to every e-mail marketing tool (getting your client's email addresses into AC since you already did so much work and spent so much money in getting this client!!) I like that ActiveCampaign is such an incredible software with so many tools to help the customer experience go way much better with the implementation of marketing tactics that adjust to very public. I like the email template builder because it offers so much versatility and helps me create different templates that feel very on-brand. Additionally, I think that the analytics that this software provides is very profound and helps really dig in on what's going on and how our email marketing is doing in terms of visibility ad engagement. It is a great software to automate the email campaign process. For ActiveCampaign, I feel like there is a tough learning curve in order to start using the software. It is a bit complicated and overwhelming because there are many features to start with, so it takes time to really feel comfortable while using it. I think it would be good to add more guides to help the implementation go smoother and faster. For us, we have been able to see great results and improvement very quickly; our communication with customers and sending out email campaigns have improved so much, we now have total control over our analytics, and we are able to study them deeply and make the right decisions based on that. We are able to save so much time thanks to the automated tasks, which was our main issue as we spent a lot of time in the creation and delivery of the campaigns.

ActiveCampaign is very intuitive. Getting familiar with the system and how everything works doesn't take much time. Customizations are very easy to implement, whether custom fields, custom automations, custom pipelines, etc. The integrations available are also great, with nearly every software available for integration either natively or via Zapier. The integration connections are reliable and easy to set up. The pricing is also very reasonable for the suite of features you receive, offering far more value when compared to other software. Our company has been very happy since switching to ActiveCampaign and recommends it to anyone considering it. Larger enterprise companies may find the suite of features slightly limited when compared to broader software like HubSpot or Zoho. I believe ActiveCampaign recognizes this, with some of their messaging specifically mentioning they target small to medium-sized businesses. It can also be slow to load at times, taking 15-30 seconds at times to save changes you've made. It'd be nice if this improved. ActiveCampaign allows us to offer highly effective email marketing that connects well with their CRM system. Overall, we can improve our communication with leads and clients while tracking where everyone is in the pipeline, what they've engaged with, whether they are worth pursuing, and so on.

The ability to segment my contacts based upon their behavior and location and how easily it was to integrate with several third party software. What I dislike most is their lack of reliability and customer support. Beware. I swtiched to ActiveCampaign early 2017 on a recommendation from a business mentor. There were approximately 32 students taking a course with said mentor. Many of the students complained about ActiveCampaign from the onset (not being user friendly and having a steep learning curve was their biggest complaint, which was not an issue for me since my past includes a long career in Information Technology/Systems). For the most part, I was satisfied initially. They seem to provide a decent product...until the customer encounters problems and seeks their support. Approximately 80 percent of those students cancelled their ActiveCampaign accounts--some due to difficulty to use and others doe to their poor customer support. I tried to work with their (non-)Support Team via chat and email for an unreasonable number of hours, all to no avail. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced across like companies. I had several issues with ActiveCampaign but the most serious one happened during a well-planned program launch where I relied heavily on them for the marketing piece. The reputation of my business suffered in addition to an estimated $27,000 loss of income at their hands. I spent approximately two weeks going back and forth with their support team about my campaigns not being delivered during what could have been a lucrative launch. I included evidence of my claim and, instead of taking responsibility and resolving, they shrugged their shoulders. Ridiculous and unnecessary amount of time spent with them. They simply do not care about their customers. I have not realized any benefits; however, I have lost approximately $27,000 in profits from a well-planned launch at ActiveCampaign's hands--not to mention the damage to our business reputation. It seemed like a valid alternative to Mailchimp. There were two big problems. The biggest being that they closed our account down, but when they did they closed of all access to our lists. We have considerable money marketing in social networks which send people to a mailing list sign up. We lost about a week of those people. They decided (before we sent our first email) that our business was against their misleading terms (not listed in their "prohibited content", but listed in a section afterwards, under "businesses with higher scrutiny". This was after paying and spending time to integrate their API with our sign up procedure. Secondly... integrating their API was a pain. Unlike some competitors, you cannot pass them an email address and a list ID, and whether it is subscribed or not. Instead you must say whether the email is a creation, or an update. This adds additional calls, meaning you must first search a list by email, and if it returns a result it's an update. Not only that, but to update a users subscription to a list you must post (not patch) not only the updated value of that list, but the existing values of all lists they're in. It suggests in the API that this isn't the case, but it certainly is. Make sure there's no way they can shutdown your account, or you'll lose your list. We were just trying to find a place that could take a list of emails (both from integrated sign up to our site, and also marketing landing pages), and we could send email campaigns to the users. What I have realised is I should have checked up front if they allow you access to your lists after they suspend your account. We have to use our last backup, which means that some users who may have changed their subscription settings will have it reverted... which isn't good for us or them.

I liked the automation options. You can build very complex automations. There are so many bugs, it feels like using an early. beta. Only difference, you're quickly charged over $100 per month for it. The email editor is really bad compared to some other alternative. I encountered many bugs while using ActiveCampaign. Which eventually lead to us changing software. ActiveCampaign gets really expensive very fast as they charge per user (Sendinblue has unlimited users). $125 per month to email 1001 users. The customer support tries to be helpful but in the end can't help. The final straw on the camel's back was when I needed to segment users to email them and find out if they're still relevant. Segmenting users didn't work due to bugs (503 errors, lists not actually being segmented). I eventually hit the user limit before the support received my request. They wanted us to upgrade in order to check why their bugs were occuring. AVOID IT. Once you have invested a lot of time and money to implement, it's hard to switch. We started out using Mailchimp, which worked well enough for the beginning stages of our business. However, it became clear that Mailchimp was limited, especially when it comes to building more sophisticated automated campaigns. We evaluated GetResponse and MailerLite at the same time as ActiveCampaign, and ultimately chose ActiveCampaign because it had high level capabilities with tiered pricing based on list size - there was a plan that was a perfect fit for our stage of business. Keap stacks up favorably in our view next to ActiveCampaign - Keap Max Classic has powerful automation capabilities. However, more power at Keap means more money right out the gate. Ultimately, ActiveCampaign was a perfect balance of feature set and pricing that matched our current stage of growth.
ActiveCampaign is an extraordinarily powerful tool for small businesses and it is designed to grow with you - entry level pricing with ActiveCampaign is just unbelievably affordable. As your list grows and your business grows, you can level up the feature set you get with ActiveCampaign, so it's never too soon to choose this software. That said, if you are a solopreneur, don't feel confident learning automation software, and don't currently have the budget to hire someone to manage ActiveCampaign for you, you may not get what you want out of using this software. You still have to invest time into building and maintaining the systems you create in ActiveCampaign. While it's completely possible to use ActiveCampaign without being a tech wizz, it's also worth knowing that you will be under utilizing this tool. And, that's ok! At first, you may just want to send attractive newsletters. But once you have some capital to invest, spend some getting an expert to work with you on your application. There is SO MUCH you are able to do with this tool.

Available fonts are limited, email styling is limited, visual design features are clunky and not intuitive.

I also use Mailchimp with our yoga & massage studio. ActiveCampaign is a breath of fresh air compared to Mailchimp. ActiveCampaign is easy to use, efficient and does not glitch. It has fewer unsubscribes and makes email marketing a dream. The automation is also user-friendly and effective. I would highly recommend ActiveCampaign over Mailchimp every day.
ActiveCampaign is great to help build an audience through emails and automations. I only use it for that, so that is all I can comment on. It is extremely user-friendly, which for a non-tech savvy person like myself, is like a breath of fresh air. I only wish it could integrate with Booker, our scheduling software.
Automations: User friendly to navigate. A plus for non-tech savvy folks like me. Emails: Easy to create and great templates. Collects data: I love the way you can track opens, clicks, unsubscribes, etc. I like the ability to resend emails with just a click of a button to the subscribers who haven't opened the original email.
Landing pages: Seems like they are just getting started and will have to compete with Leadpages & Clickfunnels, but are currently falling short of the measurement. I do think, that with time they will succeed. Partnering with more software programs: Booker, our scheduling app doesn't sync with ActiveCampaign, so we are stuck with Mailchimp. The home dashboard could look a little nicer, but that is just a personal request.

HubSpot has a little more modern look, but ActiveCampaign is a bit more intuitive in my opinion. Automation and organization is a bit easier within ActiveCampaign. Hubspot has more compartmentalized products which could be beneficial for organizations which only need certain features, but ActiveCampaign is overall a better fit for small and medium companies, since they often need a lot of the features included with Active Campaign.
Since we are a small business, we still haven't tapped all the potential of ActiveCampaign. But I would say they are a great fit for any company, regardless of size. However, I can confirm it is especially useful for small to medium sized companies. It is really useful for companies looking to automate a fair amount of their customer engagement while not sacrificing a lot of the personal touch.

ActiveCampaign is an awkward middle child between full fledged marketing automation (HubSpot, Marketo, Infusionsoft) and Email Service Providers (MailChimp, ConstantContact, CampaignMonitor). It's a step up from the ESPs with richer list management and branching logic without losing the drag and drop ease of use, while being a poorer cousin to the MA options that include detailed tracking, beautiful reports, landing pages and integrations with true CRMs.
If you're just getting started and know you're going to want an Email Service Provider (not a Marketing Automation software), then you really should check out ActiveCampaign. Compared to MailChimp or ConstantContact or Klaviyo it's a big step up in terms of advanced, smart delivery. On the other hand, if you know you'll be wanting options like landing pages and robust tracking within 12 months, or expect to be working with a large list soon, you might find yourself disappointed, and should start looking at Infusionsoft or HubSpot instead, as you won't be as likely to outgrow it so soon.
Most Email Service Providers don't allow for logic branching in their drip sequencing - they allow for time delays or opt out/ins based on opens and maybe clicks, but no true branching or trees. This is a key differentiation for AC. The drag and drop workflows and organization is fantastic, easy to use and fast. You can setup a sequence in a matter of minutes where it would take hours with other providers. Integrating with others is a key part of the modern tech stack. Active Campaign works with Zapier, making it able to talk to landing page software, ad campaigns, other marketing automation, email databases and more. Plus it offers native integrations with Stripe, SurveyMonkey, PipeDrive, Paypal and more. If you're just getting started and have less than 1k contacts, the pricing is very reasonable. You can get out between $17 and $100 a month and get a host of features competitors can't touch.
The reporting UI is difficult to use. I setup a fantastic sequence, but understanding how it was performing was like pulling teeth. How many users branched, how many unsubscribed? I had to dig into individual emails to get this information. As your contact list climbs, the pricing does, too. Once you get up around 2-5k contacts, you really should start looking at options like HubSpot, where the pricing is comparable but the feature list is much larger. At it's heart, AC is an email platform. So no landing pages, the website tracking is kinda half-baked and the CRM feels like it's just tacked on without it being integrated in an intentional and strategic way.

I actually hated Keap and will never use them again. Sounds negative but not only did they corner me on a contract (they made everything sounds like flowers and sunshine during their very aggressive and supportive onboarding) but you 100% have to have a person who fully gets how to create flows on their challenging interface. AC was like a dream come true. I light at the end of the tunnel. I switched over within a day and had a great sales call with one of the onboarding specialists. I uploaded my contacts and was on the move, at a great price, within 2 days of cancelling keap.
It's a LOT more intuitive than Keap. I switched from Keap which was way too far outside my breadth of knowledge. AC not only made it easy to upload my email contacts, make the switch and test emails, but they didn't back me into a contract I couldn't get out of. That's a HUGE plus. As a small business, you just never know what's going to come up and having the option to stop at anytime, is really vital, especially during a global pandemic.
I love the drag and drop feature in the drip campaign section I really like the ease of creating good looking emails I liked how easy it was to upload my own media into the email templates
I feel like the dashboard, side nav bar is confusing. I don't always remember what each icon takes me to. Theres generally a lot of options on the first page of the platform. I'm not fully sure of the workflows at times. I definitely needed a web developer to help me understand what functions do what. I didn't always know what actions on the backend, reflected what actions on the front end.

ActiveCampaign is the only option (compared to ConstantContact and MailChimp) for creating marketing automations and drip campaigns. If you don't need automation, Constant Contact and MailChimp are a lot easier to use.
ActiveCampaign is not for everyone. It is well suited for those who understand email marketing or have experience with email marketing and automations. If you are not going to use it for the automations, it's probably not worth using it. You are just as well served using a less expensive and simpler program that is easier to use.
Easy to create and format emails with a "drag and drop" interface. Anyone can easily create an email with little instruction. You can also use custom HTML to create an email or email template so that you can be assured the email you are sending looks EXACTLY like you want it to or matches your website exactly.
There is no media database/library. All images uploaded for use just kind of "live" with the user that uploaded them in the emails and there is no easy way to organize them and there is no way to share them amongst different users. So needless to say, images are just kind of a mess. Campaigns can be organized by various methods - type, status, label and list. But there is no way to organize by campaign name, date created or date scheduled/sent which would be helpful for the person creating all the emails to keep track of what's done and needs to be done. (You can sort by 'last modified' but if you jump around a bit between emails, that doesn't help.)

One of the greatest strengths that encourage us to prefer ActiveCampaign is its way of automatically managing the lead nurturing strategy by applying different actions such as sending emails, SMS, and more, based on a previous rule that we have configured, among which it may be the sending of a form or having detected a visit to our website. This tool helps us with the correct creation of workflows to handle a significant volume of transactions, which would be practically impossible manually.
Being able to manage the list of leads in an integral way is one of the most important challenges in a marketing department, and one of the strongest points of ActiveCampaign since this tool allows us to manage lists based on properties, behaviors extracted from the analysis of the records, traffic sources, forms and even other lists, which makes it a highly valued platform. And with the automation of interaction and communications, we managed to free the marketing team from making shipments or procedures manually.

The reason for 3/5 is because all the features it offers, you can get with any other provider. The big difference is that this platform is SLOW. Think dial-up slow. You make a change and the page load for 10-15 seconds before it performs the function. I have High-Speed Fibre Internet (download speed of 3 Gbps), full bars, other apps running fine and Active Campaign struggles to run. This is a known issue (search AC slow? on Reddit). Again, do your research and proceed with caution!Although you might be saving some time automating workflows, you will burn time literally sitting there and watching the platform attempt to perform the task. I've used other platforms (Mailchimp) that never had this problem, so I'd just take its slow speed into serious consideration before moving forward.

Any obstacle we have faced since migrating to this email software has been removed by their stellar customer service reps, who record screengrabs during your chat with them to answer questions. The software itself is the best we've experienced for email autoresponders.
Our email deliverability was not as optimal as we wanted, which prompted us to do research into autoresponders that had better deliverability rates.
Switching to ActiveCampaign has been a great business decision. Creating automations and flows triggered by customer activity has been a breeze and I commend their customer service for being readily available to answer any questions.
There is a large learning curve for this software. Many of their written tutorials on their website don't fully answer the questions I needed answered.
