We restructured our large Board (26 members) into 4-Standing Committees and wanted a communications system that enables all Board members to be well-informed and able to discuss items. Boardable far exceeded our expectations with its ability to call meetings, build agendas, record notes, take attendance, send out meeting minutes, and archive documents we upload and share. I vetted 3 other Board management platforms and found that Boardable provided us with everything we needed to accomplish our goal of building a solid communication system between committees at a very reasonable price. As with any software system, getting members comfortable and proficient in using Boardable took a little effort on our part, but the Boardable customer service reps go over and beyond to lend help and solve any issue. They provide a rich library of tutorials and FAQs and should there not be a current solution, Boardable is very open to ideas and suggestions. Our Board is made up of all levels of computer savvy and we were pleased with how intuitive and easy it is to use the platform. I highly recommend Boardable for any Board that wants their Board to be well-informed and engaged! Nothing major just a few petty things like having to use the return arrow at the top of the page to return to the previous page. However, once you use Boardable regularly you quickly learn workarounds to make navigation quicker. It all comes down to how often you use the platform. For those who only log in once in a great while, they will find it cumbersome but for regular users, it is intuitive and robust! I highly recommend Boardable for any Board that wants an efficient means of communication, transparency, and accountability for their Board. It is easy to use, is robust with features, offers top-of-the-line customer support, and is affordable for non-profit Boards. Our previous Board structure used 16 committees that operated in isolated silos. As a result, we spent a great portion of a Board meeting reporting on past committee updates making our meetings long, boring, and nearly impossible to grasp our overall impact as a Board. With Boardable to coordinate our new 4-Standing Committee structure, all members have real-time details at their fingertips and can be reviewing updates from each committee shortly after they meet. This is having a tremendous impact on our Board meetings by having Board members come to the meeting well informed and ready to vote rather than having to learn what is happening. We feel we've reached a higher level of fiduciary responsibility by having well-informed members who know where to find the information they need about an issue and reach out to other Board members for discussion if need be. Hi Paula, Thank you so much for taking the time to review Boardable. We are so happy to hear that Boardable has helped improve your board's communication and keep everyone informed. It is also great to know that the platform is impacting and improving how your board meetings run and that you have reached a higher level of fiduciary responsibility. Thank you again for spreading the word about Boardable. Take care, Laura Clark Co-Founder and Customer Advocacy Manager

Boardable is a central hub for our board and committee members to utilize for meetings, agendas, and documents. Our board members are finding it very useful to be able to manage board meetings and the accountability with assigned follow-up tasks. Boardable has been constantly making improvements to the platform since we joined in August 2019. There are a few features that would enhance the platform which I have shared with the Boardable team. One key feature, beyond email capacity, would be having outgoing communications include a text feature. In addition, we have had some challenges getting Zoom links to post in meetings. Many of our Board members utilize various scheduling platforms, Microsoft Teams, Google, and Outlook, scheduling a reoccurring meeting with the consistent Zoom link "join" button on each meeting. I understand we joined Boardable at the earlier stages in the company's development and have a favorable pricing structure compared the current tiers. As we would enjoy the features of Spotlight, Board Meeting packets, and added number of members, the pricing jump to that level may be financially challenging to sustain. Bringing our board and committee together on "the same" page" has been very valuable. We are just getting into a consistent pattern of the utilization of the platform. We see how this will truly enhance our current board and the ability to recruit strong board and committee members in the future. As of 2022, we have experienced more of our board members using Boardable because we publish the Zoom link in the meeting itself, driving members to the platform. This is a good thing. At this time, we wish we could afford the add ons of the Professional level account with the Spotlight Video & Zoom Integration, onboarding, and unlimited data and members. Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your experience with Boardable. We truly appreciate your longtime support of our company and are thrilled to know that your board is finding the platform to be helpful as a central hub and impactful in having successful meetings that incorporate accountability. Thank you also for your feedback and I will pass on your suggestions to the product team. We are continually fine-tuning the platform and looking to add tools and features that are helpful to our customers. Recently we made some updates to our calendaring system that should help across all calendar platforms. Please reach out to us if you would like more information on those. Thank you again, Laura Clark Co-Founder and Customer Advocacy Manager

The ability to have a user-friendly, easy-to-access online platform for Boardmembers, no matter how tech-savvy they are! The ability to schedule meetings, hold conversations, store documents, take minutes, and more has eliminated multiple, confusing emails from occurring. The time I have saved using Boardable for three boards that I manage has allowed me to focus on furthering our mission and vision. In the future, I would like their ios/Android app to contain all or most of the features available on the web browser version. In addition, It would be wonderful to have a shared calendar feature, where members could see all meetings, not just what they are invited to. I looked into multiple board management software. Boardable was and still is the winner. Their sales staff was never pushy, and always helpful in my trial/purchasing stages - this was not my experience with any other company. Boardable is easy to use. This was so important to me because our board varies in their technical abilities. There are not enough words to explain how Boardable has decreased the time I spent on board communications and increased our effectiveness as an organization. I have eliminated countless emails to discuss/comment/conversate on various topics, remind folks when upcoming meetings are occurring, send documents, agendas/attachments, and minutes. Because this is all located in Boardable, there is no need for emails. I realize how much time I was spending on these tasks and the time I have now to focus on other areas of my work. Hi Cassie, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with Boardable. We are thrilled to hear how much value you are finding in the platform and what a time saver it is for you. Freeing up time so that organizations can further their mission is one of our primary goals! Thank you again, Laura Clark Co-Founder and Customer Advocacy Manager

Boardable makes it easy to compile all of the records our regulators require. Setting up accounts is easy. The program is highly intuitive. I think it is simple for anyone to use without extensive training. Our new admin hopped in it and got it even more organized with almost no instruction from me. Going back in time to a specific meeting is simple. We like it that you can make changes to meeting minutes even after you publish them. We love it that you can have more than one administrator. That makes system administration easy. I have only minor things in the category of things I dislike. Once the board member logs into their profile the first time, the administrator cannot make changes to the name or email account for them. As a non-profit, our board members are volunteers and they are also busy people. I would prefer to have all features changeable by the administrator. Also, running a report of all board member activities is not as easy as it should be. Finally, the software uses a note-taking category for Vote, which is fine. However, they need to add a way to easily plug in who made the motion, and who seconded. This is completely doable by typing that in, but could be improved with some check-boxes. These votes could also be done by using polls. Although the ability to take notes in it live during a meeting is nice, we find it necessary to do them in Word so we can collaborate on minutes using the track changes feature. When we are all done, we copy and paste them into Boardable's minutes feature for that meeting. This is a great program for non-profits to help them organize their efforts with their governing bodies. The software also makes it easy to meet regulatory requirements, especially when there is an unannounced inspection or site visit. Most board members have been able to get in and create their profiles without difficulty. The app makes it a cinch for them to RSVP to meetings or answer polls right from their phones. Boardable helps us to keep our board members informed of upcoming meetings. They can find all of their information in one place. Boardable also makes it possible for us to track everything at an administrator level instead of having files, "owned," by a staff member who may leave the organization. Getting those records back was a challenge before we went to Boardable. Also, the software makes it simple for leadership to check that things are in place and where they should be. Hi, Sue. Thank you for your valuable feedback. We're constantly making enhancements to Boardable features and love hearing suggestions for ways we can make Boardable even better. I'd be happy to schedule a call to learn more about your experience with reports and notes. Please feel free to reach out to success@boardable.com.

The online portal is very easy to utilize and doesn't require loads of training to onboard the Board of Directors and organizational staff. I also really like the document center that allows us to store recordings of prior meetings and board minutes and notes from committee meetings. I also like that I can push out reminders and calendar appointments directly from the portal for upcoming meetings to my board members. The portal doesn't have a dedicated board annual forms section which would be very helpful. Something we could set to pop up at a certain time each year to get the board members to complete (directly in the portal with an electronic signature) annual disclosures and other annual governance forms. I also wish the in portal video conferencing was bette quality, the video feed often appears fuzzy and sometimes people are dropped the from the call (the video conferencing is still in beta, so I anticipate it will be strengthened over time). Know exactly what you want from your board portal and compare it across the various board management softwares that exist. Once you know the features you need it will be easier to make your selection. We solved several problems by moving to Boardable. First, we had all of our board documents easily accessible to board members for easy review. Second, we were able to have electronic voting within the secured portal to accomplish some best practices in governance. Lastly, the in portal video calls with the side by side agenda have made it easier for members to view packets at their own pace vs a shared screen in traditional video conference software.

I personally evaluated each of these products and found Boardable was the best fit for our needs. Plus, none of these products could match the price for the features we wanted. I actually met with Boardable users and was able to ask honest questions and was pleased by the feedback I received.
I spearheaded the adoption of Boardable after vetting 3 other Board management platforms and found Boardable to be the best fit for our Board of 26 members. Boardable provides great features for coordinating our efforts for being organized, reporting, and most of all, consolidated engagement. Boardable enables us to meet regularly through Spotlight, create agendas and use them to guide the meeting, take notes directly related to agenda items, create discussions outside meetings, and house all important documents. Most Board management platforms do all these things, however, Boardable is intuitive, provides tremendous support, and is very affordable for non-profits. Less suited scenarios would include boards with many members who are not well-versed in using digital platforms. Boardable is simple enough to learn. It just requires an openness to learn a new skill.
Organize and execute Board & Committee meetings through the "Meetings" which allows you to build your agenda, attach documents, create minutes, and send out a summary of the meeting once completed. Provide a very versatile Document Center where you can archive all types of documents for current and future use. Polls, Tasks, & Decision-making features. These tools allow for broadcasting to members at large or to committees important information to be acted upon. It also keeps a record of responses. Reports--this is an area we are just beginning to appreciate since it provides overviews of board member engagement and progress made within committees and the board at large. People Directory--an invaluable tool for orienting new board members to current members as well as allowing for board members to contact each other. Goal Setting: this is a tool we are just starting to use. It allows for the tracking of progress for board projects and/or fundraising.
Spotlight bandwidth--our organization has a large board (26 members) and we encountered video issues at large meetings. In all fairness to Boardable, this was prior to the latest Spotlight upgrade as well as some of the issues had to do with users not following recommendations and/or not having a strong internet connection. You cannot deposit completed minutes directly into the document center. As it stands, once a meeting's minutes are published the minutes stay with the meeting then are stored on the "Past" meeting page. It would be nice to have the option to save the minutes directly to the document center for that particular board mtg or committee meeting. Sending notice of published meeting minutes to people who were not included in the original meeting. It would be ideal to allow all board members to receive published meeting notes to review who may not be associated with that group.

We didn't look at other products. I used Boardable for another organization first (as its President) and was thoroughly impressed with the easy-to-use interface, the low cost, and the quick onboarding process. I introduced the platform to our Board Chairman who gave the green light to move forward in 2019, which was a great move to do before the pandemic and our board meeting became virtual for nearly 2 years.
Boardable is definitely worth the cost. Its extremely valuable and there are new tools and updates being released all the time. Their staff reaches out for feedback and is easy to reach. It is a great resource for managing our board meetings and being effective, supportive, and interactive for our Trustees. I never want to waste our board members' time and Boardable helps us deliver an outstanding and engaging board experience.
Streamlined agenda building: Instead of spending time sending emails and attachments, I can easily build and share an Agenda with documents appended to specific agenda items. This keeps everyone organized and informed. Accountability: I can see when board members log into the platform and keep track of who has read which content for increased transparency and accountability. Real-time edits and updates: As things change or need to be added to an agenda, I can easily make edits and share these changes with board members. I can send them an email on the platform to remind them of new documents or information related to the board meeting.
We have created a board policy & governance manual and made it a meeting with agenda so we all have easy access to all that information. It would be amazing for Boardable to offer a policy document tool like it that's easier to manage, but this was their suggestion for setting it up for now. Being able to add the time zone where the in-person will be held would be helpful rather than just where the person sets as their time zone.

The main issue is this platform is designed and geared toward nonprofits vs. adapting a for-profit board portal. The second is the price point, while it has gone up significantly, is still in line with nonprofit budgets.
Overall this is a solid board/volunteer portal. It allows staff and volunteers to have an all-in-one place for operations, votes, and meetings. It is also built to allow volunteers to operate without the need for staff to do the work. A committee chair needs to set up a meeting - no problem they can go in, poll committee members, set a date, and with the preset zoom integration establishes the meeting using the company's Zoom account. Tired of building huge board packets of materials with tabs and chapters? No problem the system allows you to build it easily with attachments. Then you don't kill trees to print and mail with the Board able to view the agenda with all attachments in order with a few taps. Overall very solid product and cheaper than many other board portal services. They have some things that can be better, but nothing that should keep someone from adopting the technology.
Meeting Scheduling Agenda and meeting packet building Improved centralized communications
Meeting scheduling can be wonky with polling for a date A lot of the most valuable features are at a higher price point beyond the basic package. Opportunity to improve the minutes builder

As a consultant who works with several nonprofits at a time, I really needed a way to stop the email madness. Too many of the boards I work with struggle with being responsive to each other and I am more and more convinced that the problem is more related to email than to people being too busy or over committed. Once it is built out, Boardable has everything a person needs to fulfill their board obligations in one location. It is well-organized and attractive to look at, allowing the board member to focus on their responsibility itself, rather than on just all the time generating and answering email. I convinced two of my boards to try it and it took quite a bit of effort to get everyone past their resistance and using the system, but with leadership from those who were eager to learn, we eventually got it working well. Another thing we had to do was to project the Boardable screen on the wall in the boardroom so others could follow along that way. Two thumbs up for the customer service team. They were delightful in chats, phone calls and trainings. Very helpful.
Trello is not designed to support board governance. We were retrofitting it to make it work.
Boardable is a web portal designed to support the governance function of nonprofit boards of directors. By logging in, a board member can find all of their documents, prepare for meetings, engage in between-meeting discussions, co-write documents, assign tasks, schedule meetings and events and more. It is all in one location and very well organized.
Getting everyone from the team to log in, take some training, and start using it. Some people still resist, which creates extra work for everyone. I do not know what the software makers could do to improve this.

Prior to using Boardable, our organization had disparate file storage systems and multiple channels of communication. This negatively impacted our ability to operate efficiently, and collect and analyze data. Additionally, every year we have changes on our Board of Directors (people phasing in and out). This meant information was sometimes lost, and we were consistently re-inventing the wheel. Boardable has allowed us to create sustainability for our organization, be more organized and efficient, collaborate more efficiently, and (most importantly) have a greater impact in our community.
Boardable is extremely user-friendly and easy to use. It's easy to onboard new members and get them up-to-speed quickly. Additionally, customer-informed improvements roll out on a consistent basis, which shows that Boardable not only takes customer feedback seriously, but that they're consistently looking to make it more impactful and easy to use. The ability to streamline things like communications and file storage has had a huge positive impact on operational efficiency and accountability.
There's nothing we don't like. We've consistently provided feedback and it has always been addressed.

Single online portal that is accessible to all our board members. Centralized storage and documentation center as well as discussion board. Integrated calendar and polls work well to keep all members connected in between meetings. And everything has permissions settings to allow/ disallow access to pretty much anything you like.
It's simplicity. Very easy to use and has a quick learning curve. Tech support has been very responsive to any questions or requests. Was able to get out working and all our board members online in less than 10 mins. They offer a free trial which makes this choice a no brainer.
It is a little limited on a few, just a few, features compared to some other really higher prices choices. But they are continuously making changes and adding upgraded features. This was the only reason I didn't give the features 5 stars as it wasn't the perfect solution (for our needs) , but hey, nothing is ever perfect. Extremely close though and wouldn't really consider this a con.

I strongly recommend Boardable to my other colleagues and co-workers. It has been proven trustworthy and reliable.
Boardable is a fantastic software for arranging and conducting meetings virtually. In this ongoing Covid pandemic when physical meetings in any institution are restricted Boardable opens a dynamic way for our company. We can feel the realistic feelings of togetherness using Boardable. Its collaboration with Zoom makes it more accurate and effective. We can easily share our thoughts and opinions that aid in making decisions in important matters. Boardable provides our all details for every specific meeting session ready that enables us to get some relax and fell less burden.
I do not have any issue with Boardable so far. Their supportive crew are so friendly and always solved our problems if faced immediately.

Centralized communication has been key to moving our organization forward. It's helped with accountability and tracking, and allows us to communicate between board meetings. Polls are great for gathering feedback, etc.
I want to be able to use Boardable for my committee functions as well. We have started to do this, but find the feature set is limited. I believe this could be fixed by changing the way we look at member, observer, and administrator. In other words, I want my committee members to have member-level access but only within their defined group. As it stands, committee members can't assign meetings, upload files, etc. because they are limited by their user status. Also, file storage can get hairy. There should be more instructions on storing files, attaching them to meetings, access, etc.

Our Board didn't previously have a place to go to see all its documents, and now it does. It's simpler and easier than sending out so many emails...and we were able to cancel two software subscriptions (Basecamp and Zoom) that were made redundant thanks to Boardable. So, overall, we're saving money by implementing this tool!
The price is great, it looks and feels really simple and lovely, and the company is obviously interested in feedback and improving the product.
There are a few quirks to the software, like there's no internal back button and the beta version of the video conference software only works in Chrome! But for the most part it works really well, and anything that I do get confused about is easy to problem-solve with their available support folks and customer service rep.
