Sigma does a great job handling analytics up and down the pipeline. As an architect, I can expose very raw (even semistructured) pipeline data and crowd-source the semantics. Sigma has really elegant ways of treating semistructured data in a first-class, business-user-friendly data type, as well as an intuitive foreign key "data type" that makes rough and / or normalized data easy to traverse for non-data professionals. From there, we can make an *educated* decision on what to leave as an ad hoc investigation and what to invest in and mature into a proper BI schema. There are some basic visual discovery features that Sigma should lift from Tableau - they've had decades to perfect this game. I think Tableau is a mess today, but some of the core data discovery features are still tough to beat. Sigma has closed the gap over the past couple years, but there's a bit farther to go. Another gap I'd like to see closed is with Sheets / Excel. Supporting an additional data source type which is simply an empty spreadsheet would bring things like targets / projections / goals / what-if parameters / mappings under the data team jurisdiction, while still enabling ownership of the numbers themselves by the business teams. Quarterly targets are volatile, sales territory mappings are volatile, what-if scenarios are volatile ... we need to enable the domain experts to own and maintain these numbers, while meeting basic data platform governance requirements of governance, version control and centralization. No BI tool has cracked this feature, but Sigma seems closest. Finally, the Dataset feature needs to be brought into the upgraded UX of the workbook. The unique service that Sigma provides is that domain experts without deep data experience can traverse the data and participate in the modeling, soup to nuts. Learning Sigma is fast and easy because it mimics spreadsheet formulas.

Sigma is pretty straightforward for the report creator. Generally, the types of charts you need are available and intuitive to build. Additionally, the live chat feature for customer service is excellent. As a user, I get quick, comprehensive responses. If the agent does not have a solution, it is obvious that they are customer-centric in their product roadmap and submit tickets for customers to track requested changes as they are being developed. At the time of this review, the product is still in its early stages and there are some growing pains. There is quite a bit of pushback from end users. Typically, this is due to long load times on visuals, filters that don't feel intuitive, and an overall lack of flexibility in the platform. There isn't a lot of malleable parts to this product and it can be tough to get the right (very specific) visualization when requested. I'm often left wishing certain features existed that are small but change the overall feel of a dashboard. It is very quick to put together a basic visualization. Since it is all web-based, it is dynamic and easily shared to build on by other team members and viewers.

I like the ability to create Sigma-specific logic functions that really help with reducing the time it takes to do calculations. In addition to that, Sigma's documentation is pretty on-point and allows me to build whatever I need to build out quickly. It seems pretty rare that I can't find the specific function I'm looking for. It is hard to create on-off data reports. It is pretty often that I get a request as a question that has an answer I don't necessarily need to continue tracking. In this sense, the only way I've noticed that I can do this is to create a new workbook and the platform forces me to save it. This causes my documents section to get pretty messy. Ideally I would love for end-users to be involved in being able to create their own data models and worksheets, however the platform is too complicated for regular end-users to be able to empower themselves leading to a data analyst needing to work on any given request. Sigma is allowing me to create the data that I need and report it out to the rest of the team. We've had a hard time consolidating our data together and Sigma allows me to do that.

Sigma taps into our database super quickly and has dramatically reduced the time to business insights. As a Marketer, we used to rely completely on a team that needed to write SQL to pull the data I can now pull with Sigma. The user interface is pretty intuitive and works seamlessly. I also really liked the user onboarding seminar Sigma did with our company putting real examples in front of us with our data. I don't like how limited calculated fields are. The level of detail you can reach with Tableau is lacking with Sigma. e.g., LOD calculations, row calculations, and some of the visualization customizations. It did also take a while for our team to get the product up and running to a point where someone who has limited SQL knowledge could use it. Things like Tableau Prep that help visualize data before you analyze it are super helpful, where there isn't anything like that available for Sigma as far as I know. There could also be better help resources to explain how to use the product. Maybe a user forum or a video series that explains how to get the most out of Sigma. Able to tap into data as a Product Manager where I used to rely on our Analytics team. Faster speed to insights.

We use Sigma in our organization to gather usage data for our customer base. It is easy to use for this purpose and easy to export the data into a CSV/Excel file so that our customers can utilize the data in a usable format. Sometimes we face long load times or lagging when trying to pull a report. This may be because our data set is large, but it can be frustrating We have had a positive experience and a lot of this is due to the excellent Support team. Take advantage of that! We are using Sigma to pull usage data for the most part. We also use it to pull data on user profiles (what version of the tool they're using, what version of Windows are they running, etc.) It has been very helpful for us to have access to this data outside of our own environment, via a web browser, especially while remote. It has also drastically reduced overhead and internal Engineering efforts.

The only other data platform we have tried or had experience with was Tableau which I personally felt was much more confusing and difficult to use for the everyday user. We have lots of people in sales, who have no background in data, and who need to be able to access the client's data on a day-to-day basis. Sigma makes this easy!
Sigma is very quick and easy to create reports with for internal and external uses. Their customer support is great, it has a simple interface that is easy to learn and manipulate, and it is an excellent tool for finding data on existing customers within your org. I am not aware of a better competitor to Sigma.

Overall I have access to more than our previous reporting system, which is a positive. However, as self serve as it is I wish connecting tables and validating was more straightforward as a user.
I like how customizable it is. From a good basic report I can move things around to suit my needs. In addition it has many options for how to export, which is great as I use excel for more complex files & google sheets for collaborating & sharing findings.
Load times to get to a report or filter can be killer for some reports that pull from many data sources, and have large amounts of information. The permissions are a bit annoying when a report is created for me by an admin, but I am the report owner (as it was made for my department), but I can't make my own changes (w/o admin privlidges) and archive the main one. In these cases, I have to request the admin to make the changes, or make a copy and publish my own report and again contact the admin to delete or move the report so that mine is the one the team goes to first.

I am obsessed with Sigma, by far my favorite BI tool I've used. It let me do calculations myself that would usually require whole cycles of data requests, and affords me much more flexibility.
Wanted more flexibility than we had with Looker at the time.
    * Ability to pull any data I need or want * Complexity of calculations possible while being easy to use * Seriously those grouping levels are VERY powerful
    * Pivot tables are the one thing they haven't aced yet - you can make them but then to calculate cased on them you need to make a new dataset and then a new sheet. You can do pretty much all the same work with just levels though so I don't miss them too often. * I wish my default permissions could be "public" - I'm never doing anything private, so why is that the default? * Maps could use some work. I want to color-map countries, not just display dots

The speed with which I'm able to pull together disparate data and generate some useful insights. The Dashboard functionality has been particularly useful in creating reporting our teams can use with customers and prospects.
Version management and permissions. It's hard to keep everyone looking at the same version of a document, to view data, a document is created and generically named, so our folder system is getting very full and hard to navigate. Additionally, there's no way to tell if another user will be able to see a given document without asking them to try viewing it, and there's no way for them to request view access to that document.

It has exceeded my expectations in ease of use and the productivity my team has been able to achieve.
I love the secure cloud hosting, the ease of connecting to data sources, the fact that it queries the data directly, but most I like the grid based view of data that is always at hand. Being able to view, sort, filter, and create calculations on the data in a familiar spreadsheet-like interface is genius. The "Column Details" feature allows me to quickly understand the range of values in the system.
I've generated several feature requests for areas we'd like to see more detail.

The team is very willing to grow and shape out any new improvements, they also have great turnaround. However, i love how it is a web application and easily integrates with databricks.
The functionality is somewhat funky sometimes, but they are constantly improving.
