GoodData has beautifully laid out dashboards. The platform is second to none when it comes to embedded analytics. The charts are top-notch, and the accuracy is superb. They have the capability to tie into multiple data sources, data warehouses, databases, and data source managers. You can have the platform as a managed or self-hosted service and integrate quickly with your existing components via API's, SDK's, or standard interfaces and expand it with your growing needs. Limited choices in plans. You can only choose either a professional plan starting at $12,000 a year or a custom enterprise plan that scales, but is pricey. It would be nice to have a cheaper and smaller plan for individuals or small companies. I would love for the ability to import data from google analytics as well. Delivering real-time insights at any scale. They can tie into multiple databases and sources and it helps save time, when larger datasets are used or you need to track multiple metrics. Hi Matt, Thank you for your great review. We appreciate that! API-first architecture, scalability, reliable single source of metrics, being cloud agnostic and the ability to customize the platform to meet customer needs are our differentiators, so we are glad to hear you find it helpful in your organization. After the deprecation of UA API for Google Analytics, the recommendation is to integrate with Google BigQuery, which is also supported by GoodData natively. Tomas

I recently spent a full week or so evaluating and experimenting with BI tools to enable my co-founders and other teams members to analyze our data without needing to pull me in (as an engineer) every time they needed a question answered. After going through at least a dozen tools, I was super impressed with the quality and ease of the GoodData interface. It was the only tool I felt comfortable passing along to my colleagues and feeling like they'd be able to "figure it out" without needing much heavy lifting by me. I used lots of documentation and whatnot to learn how to use it, and it was all organized well and super informative. I'd highly recommend GoodData to anyone out there looking for a user friendly and yet very powerful BI tool. My only complaint was it is a bit difficult to explain the building of the logical data model to my business partners. I wish there was a way to simplify the process a little bit as I always need to go in and do it for them when they can't perform an analysis they need. GoodData is solving the classic BI problem - how do we connect to various data sources, expose them to our team, and enable everyone to answer important business questions and gain insights into the things that matter?

With a project / showcase for a small company, I appreciate the free tier that provides a bit of analysis capability from CSV/Amazon S3 bucket. It helps me to grow into the product further. I like the schema layout and visualization selections more than Looker, which I've used more extensively. I found the loading of the template to be relatively intuitive, but when loading a CSV file to determine the schema, it did not use the embedded data in the visualization. So, I had to upload the same file again?!? Also, I would say the visualizations are not as intuitive to set up as Looker, and my test with a pie chart seemed a bit off-base in the recommendations. I wish there were a way to share a public URL that wouldn't require another person to sign up as a GoodData user. Minor annoyance: I was about to lose access after some inactivity. It provides visualization/drill down and has a free tier that is a good fit for providing visuals/overview for demonstrating the value of our decision analysis toolkit. I'm keen to use it in a case study and/or POC once I have the data arranged. Hi Daniel, thank you for your valuable feedback and review! Would you like to discuss your experience with visualizations with our team?

I think it's a straightforward system, allows users to ingest and report on data seamlessly. There are a lot of options available for data processing/reporting. The visualization options are great and the overall design once complete looks extremely professional. In comparison to in-house UI's you don't run the risk of having different size tables, as everything is standardized. Unlike other platforms, we rarely experience outages or issues. The platform is incredibly stable and data visualizations always look great. Another plus is that to make changes, you do not always require engineers, the product managers on our team are able to make changes quickly and easily when required. This of course is a big plus since you do not have to allocate time and resources during roadmap planning that you otherwise would need for an in-house solution. Whilst simple is also a positive, it is also a negative, we've found a lot of limitations with combining of data sets or creating different designs in reporting. There isn't the ability to do customizations in the ways we need, which isn't necessarily the fault of Good data since the product was designed for a specific use case. From my understanding, although I do not have direct insight, Good Data is one of the more expensive products that we utilize. Additionally, there is a bit of a learning curve for GoodData, although once you understand how to use the platform and set things up it is relatively easy. I believe this is a good system for data visualizations if you do not intend to build something in-house. You can create custom dashboards and visualizations but will be limited the more technical you want them to be. From our understanding, it is an expensive product and there are competitors out there but for now, GoodData meets our needs and requirements. We're able to have a simple reporting UI, the data flow is stable and the visuals are much better than the competitor owned UI. We are able to create reporting per integration and provide standardized visuals for each as well as downloadable reports for all global clients. We're able to make changes quickly and easily and utilize GoodData's standardized workflow to our advantage.

I have worked as an analyst and consultant for 10+ years, and I remember first seeing a demo of GoodData around 2010. At the time I thought it was an amazing tool that would alleviate pain points in querying data. We ultimately didn't move forward with using GoodDatea because of its proprietary language. Fast forward to today and there are so many more powerful analytical tools on the market (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI). GoodData's interface and capabilities really haven't advanced since the demo. In my mind, the biggest value proposition is the cost of the rolling out the tool to smaller less tech savvy businesses. The language is proprietary and has a VERY high learning curve, even for experienced analysts. The visualizations that can be created aren't compelling or overly customizeable compared to other tools. Low adoption rate--there is a smaller network of forums for technical questions or support. When creating new metrics, it's very difficult to understand the relationships between data sets. You can't copy and paste MAQL directly into the metric editor. You have to type out the code. Queries that could be easily written in SQL become complicated nested GoodData queries. This makes QA a huge challenge. I use GoodData with Zendesk Insights for creating operational reporting for our customer service vertical.

GoodData is a simple to use reporting tool which allows us to build accurate custom reports. Building custom metrics on top of the reports and dashboards in a timely and accurate manner is the main positive of the tool. The tool is also very reliable with minimal downtime. This is important when working for a fast paced business that places a huge amount of detail in reporting. The least helpful part of the product is the fact we cannot see data in real time. Up to an hour delay to see data can be quite discouraging and not helpful when attempting to share data with high level stakeholders. Another issue we have faced is due to the size of our platform, there is a limitation on the number of attributes we can have within GoodData. This can be a blocker however, it allowed us to clean up GoodData and deprecate unwanted attributes. I would highly recommend using GoodData as it is an easy to use and a reliable reporting tool. Gooddata allows us to get daily/weekly/monthly volume based reports to summarise how our agents are coping. It allows us to measure the agents against custom KPI's and help our agents ultimately become better at delivering world class customer service.

With any important corporate initiative, especially business intelligence, you need to create an effective plan and gain executive/stakeholder buy-in first. Then making sure you have the right people, processes and technologies to accomplish the objective comes next. This would be no different. You must start with the busines objecive you are trying to accomplish, once you have identified that, develop a plan and for how you will accomplish it. Be flexible through the process as things will come up that you don't expect but GoodData has a very good track record and experienced team of internal consultants as well as partners that can help you do that. Rarelly does a failed or challenging deployment have to do with the technology - it's normally created by a lack of planning or unrealistic expectations on the side of the client. I have run into a few issues of over promising within BI platform deployments but neither of those were with GoodData.
Time to Value: GoodData is an excellent product. Having wide exposure to many products companies and solutions within the business intelligence, marketing, and sales technology space I have followed BI and the need for better annalytics closely over the past 7-8. One of the biggest challenges many companies have when acquiring a BI platform is the time it takes to get some value from it. Some can take months if note years to truly get an organization some value from them. GoodData is one of the best BI solutions to enable companies to quickly (within weeks) get direct value from it. They have developed specific solutions for Sales, Marketing and Service that for the vast majorty of companies accomplishes everything they need and then some. Ease of Use: One of the strongest and best things about GoodData is it's ease of use. The UI is great, much easier to get-up-to speed on than other more complex BI platforms and they (the company) is very committed to its customers success. Many companies can learn GoodData by just watching web videos and going through some very brief and basic training. However, GoodData can also come onsite or offers training in a variety of markets and via web for companies where that is more suitable for them. Strong Dashboards: GoodData is very strong in the area of dashboards and visual analytics. I consult with many clients big (Fortune 100) and SMB so the complexities and needs vary widely. However, one thing that stays consistent is data is just data unless you can effectively aggregate the right data sources, gain insight from those sources and be able to use that insight to take action that can positively impact your companies business decisions. The vast majority of people are visual learners and and virtually every executive I've worked with prefers to see things visually before diving into the "numbers" when weighing important business decisions. GoodData really gets it here making it easy for companies to visually show very complex and important data sets while still providing options to show more detailed views and "drill downs" if necessary. "Powered by GoodData": For many companies this is probably one of the most exciting things about GoodData and the options in which they bring their solution to market. For those companies who wish to leverage the power and flexibility of the GoodData technology but would rather "white label" or leverage the technology under their own brand, GoodData allows companies to leverage their technology just as if it was their own. Many ad-agencies, and end users find this incredibly valuable. Metadata Objects/Management (dimensions, report layouts and measurements): As deployments get larger and companies demand more scalability with thei BI platforms this becomes increasingly important. GoodData does a good job of helping their customers scale and adress some of these issues as you look accross departments and differentiating data sets. High Standards of Up-Time: GoodData guarantees 99.5% uptime in the SLA's and I am yet to run into or talk to a customer that has had a challenge in this area. The company and it's engineers seem very committed to this aspect of their business and it seems to show with the clients I speak to in terms of satisfaction. GoodData Support: GoodData has a very robust support portal and best practice resources for it's clients. Price: When comparing the cost of GoodData to other solutions in the market like IBM-Cognos, Tableau or Oracle BI it is less expensive to deploy and get up and running. Cost is one of the driving factors I use when evaluating BI solutions on behalf of my clients and that is also one of the biggest factors companeis use when doing the evaluation internally. In today's cost conscious environment I would be remiss not to include this as a strong point for GoodData as well.
GoodData was built from the ground up to be a cloud based product. This brings many benefits but to some companies it can also present some challenges in terms of security and adherence to internal policies as it relates to data security and accessibility. GoodData has a great track record of security but not every CIO/CTO can leverage an exclusive cloud environment due to corporate or government based regulations or feels comfortable with their (or their customers) sensitive data being in the cloud. This can be especially true in vertical markets such as financial services, medical and banking so finding a solution to this issue would be one area I might say they need to address...

Embedded Business Intelligence (BI) is the integration of self-service Business Intelligence (BI) Tools into normally used business applications. GoodData is one of the names which comes to mind from Embedded Business Intelligence (BI) Tools. GoodData provides growth through analytics. As a user of GoodData, I feel that GoodData is user-friendly and in sync with a lot of industry-standard data analysis and reporting tools.
In my opinion, GoodData is a useful software where you have a larger data set that is required to be analyzed. Businesses that do not have a larger data set to be analyzed can use the MS Excel tool which will be good enough to analyze the data. In short, GoodData is more suitable and appropriate for larger data sets.
It's a good platform that has a flexible pricing plan which means that users can get hands-on service free at the start. GoodData provides its users with excellent charts and drill-down analysis which makes complex large data sets so simplified and easy to understand and interpret. For me it is so convenient because everything just gets saturated on a single page.
Whilst GoodData is positive, it is also negative as I have found some limitations associated with GoodData as well. With experience in using the software of GoodData, I feel like there is a fluctuation in availability to maintain the code of the dashboards and workspaces. GoodData just has limited ways to securely transfer information between our systems and our client's systems.

GoodData stacks up very well against most of the tools but there are some advantages other tools have over GoodData. We selected GoodData because of the ease of use of the tool and since we dont have tons of data that we need to process. for our needs this tool suited the best and did everything very beautifully. Drill-down analysis, charts, mobile support - all of it was beautiful.
The tool is very user friendly most of the times. GoodData will literally grab any data point you want. You can cross reference data and create all desired reports. It is very well suited in such situations. The only time there are issues are when there is a huge amount of data flowing through other databases (from Big Data). At this stage the tool gets slow and is not able to process everything.
Excellent charts and drill down analysis. Everything on one page. Excellent integration with other databases and software. Great support and mobile app availability. All these features makes this software very useful.
To make any adjustments to the data flowing into the tool you need expert help. The tool is pricy. Just like other BI tools, this tool also proves expensive. It is difficult to use. It requires extensive training and support.

Power BI happens to be very basic and customization is limited at best. Fine for basic dashboards but not particularly good if you need to get more complex data insights. GoodData gives you the functionality of customized dashboards and is also very scalable. The price might be an issue but in the long run as the firm grows and you end up saving significantly on investing in GoodData. GoodData requires less maintenance as well since it can handle large quantities of data where as basic BI tools like PowerBI might end up crashing or might not perform efficiently when dataset size increases. The Power BI platform also doesn't provide that amount of integrations with data sources as GoodData. Hence we chose GoodData over PowerBI.
GoodData can easily integrate with cloud-based data sources such as Salesforce.com, Adobe Marketing Cloud, Magento, and various other CRM or analytics platforms. It also integrates with databases, protocols, and structured and unstructured data sources. So a friend of mine is gonna be likely using these data sources so Gooddata platform seems a good option to integrate analytics services and reporting tools.
The platform provides a very robust data infrastructure and business intelligence tools to support the data engineers and analysts. It also has a very capable and user friendly visualization/reporting interface for the end user. It is an excellent analytics platform for beginners as well. The resources available online are in good number and learning guides are easy to understand. Single-Sign-in functionality of GoodData allows integration with other enterprise platforms very easily. GoodData also provides excellent implementation consulting services and post-implementation customer service.
I would like to have tools for automated project backups and restores, user provisioning. Presently this can be achieved through API's, but would prefer to have a specific and dedicated GoodData tool for this. The pricing might not be very attractive if you happen to be a small scale business and plan to venture out in the area of Data Monetization. The process of making reports and conducting inquiries is difficult. It requires to write a little bit of code. So if you are not using ETL (Extract Transform Load), then probably you don't need such a technical product.

We used GoodData as an additional reporting tool for our marketing automation software and our CRM (SFDC). We used it within our Marketing department only. The tool was able to help up bridge data between SFDC and our MAS tools. We reported on ROI, marketing engagement, contact trends, campaign performance and more.
I wouldn't consider GoodData particularly advanced. But if you need a tool to meet basic reporting needs this should be considered, however, be sure to evaluate other tools as well. Be sure you have someone with reporting skills. GoodData may not be the best tool for a new user. Ask yourself what tools you need integrated and how many custom attributes you need reports based on.
The GoodData dashboards are interactive and easy to customize. Permission settings were straight forward and easy to manage. They weren't fully customizable, but there was enough there to work with for our needs. Scheduling of reports was done well. You were able to set exact times and frequencies for reports to be sent. You also could chose between dashboards or individual reports to send.
Creating reports was not the most intuitive. The set-up is different from most other tools I've used in the past. It took quite a bit of time to really get a report set up the way I like it. If you are used to setting up reports in SFDC, this will be a much different experience. The amount of information you can have in a report was limited. If you tried to add too many columns, it wouldn't let you or you had to condense the size of the column. I didn't feel that I had too much information and would have to make my columns very narrow and export it to Excel and reformat it in order to do my analysis. It was difficult to make some of the reports visually appealing. My supervisor was the type that liked to see reports color coded, high lighted, and bolded. The basic tabular reports were very bland. Again, I would end up exporting to Excel to format my reports before sending them off. It would've been nice to do all of that in the tool and use the scheduling functionality. Pie, bar, and any other visual reports are attractive.

SQL Server Reporting Services is great for building reports and informational tools for an organization using shared and/or relational data sources. Due to the nature of our business, we needed the ability to tie together multiple non-shared or relational data sources. GoodData provides all the necessary back-end and front-end tools in order to meet those needs.
GoodData is appropriate for any organizations struggling with bridging gaps between multiple disparate data sources. Using GoodData provides those organizations all the tools necessary to build value added insights for both internal and external customers. It would be less appropriate for those wanting to build highly customizable reports features as there's not a lot of freedom in design.
Provides easy linking of disparate data sources that typically would be very difficult to analyze in any meaningful way. Ease of design. You don't have to have extensive knowledge of the product to be able to design attractive and powerful reports, dashboards, etc. Easy to integrate into custom applications. Whether it be i-framing or white label, GoodData provides an easy solution for integrating dashboards into your applications.
Limited customization options for report/dashboards design. You are kind of locked in to their chart color options, placement of certain element (i.e. chart legend), etc. No intuitive way to handle fiscal year calendars. A custom solution needs to be built in order to handle variable fiscal calendars. Learning MAQL programming language is necessary to be able to use the product meaningfully.

GoodData is great if you have: - Data coming from multiple sources - Large volume of data - Complex reporting needs You can create your own custom metrics, reports, and dashboards. They have great drill-down options that enable you to look deeper into data. There are also many visualization options, and automated reporting is also something we use.
Setting up your account and creating reports is not easy as it may seem. For setting up we needed help from the GoodData team (and they did a good job), but it still takes a lot of our effort to maintain this link. Depending on your data model, not all things may be possible to do in the way you think (but at least their team will give their best to help you out). And we also had some issues with embedding - but they recently updated their UI, so maybe the issues that we experienced are now fixed.

The tool allows you to create some beautiful reports and dashboards. However, the real beauty in this product is in how you create the reports and dashboards. Don't select an analytics platform without spending time in the report builder! And if you do, you'll find that GoodData does that part better than anyone else. I also love how GoodData is working with other vendors to be at the forefront of the User-Centric IT movement. This, to me, bodes extremely well for the long-term outlook and vision for this company. They care about the end user experience, and it shows in their product.
Beauty, power, flexibility, and a complete solution comes at a price. While they're not more expensive than other products in the same category, it's not an inexpensive solution.

With GoodData we can go ahead with free plan and later we can pay as per number of user. It work faster and easily we can manage dashboard, perform edits and control user access. we can add additional features like branding, data warehousing, and more.
Beginner will find this tool difficult to use. They will be needing extensive training and support from team/webinars/study materials. We had to keep uploading data every time we wish to generate report.

I have a free GoodData account that came with our Enterprise level Zendesk account. This has a limited feature set when compared to the much more expensive Enterprise version of GoodData, but for our needs related to measuring tickets, issue frequency, features for the backlog, and creating visualizations for this data, it works great.
I looked into the Enterprise version, and it was incredibly expensive, prohibitively so for a small tech company with 40 employees.
