5.0Overall, I've been extremely happy with the tool. It is wildly flexible in terms of web/mobile/printability. Great product.
5.0Within the e-commerce space we rely on MicroStrategy Analytics (especially within the Flex OLAP space) for our complex reporting asks. A feature that is really useful is when you are pulling a very large amount of data, you can add it to a queue and it will continue to process while you are working through other tasks. Other programs tend to crash or glitch when trying to do the same.
5.0It is a high-performance platform that allows you to efficiently import data from different sources to facilitate its analysis and improve decision-making.

2.0We made the decision to centralize all of our reporting from all of our systems into Microstrategy Analytics. Moved off of multiple older systems which included Microsoft BI, Alteryx, and some product specific reporting.
[I feel like] compared to it's peers, this product is not ready for primetime. Has almost no capabilities "out of the box" good luck finding ANY canned reporting capabilities Almost non-existent ecosystem for finding trained help. Relative to the 'big guys" there are not consultants or candidates you can find on the open market to actually help you implement [I feel like they should] stop answering feature limitations by saying "go to the cloud product". If we wanted a SaaS solution, [there] are MUCH better ones than MicroStrategy Analytics. Your primary value proposition is it can be installed locally. I didn't realize that meant we would be limited in functionality to the dark ages.
3.0I led a strategy & analytics team at Dell that provided data-driven and actionable recommendations to senior executives. We needed an agile environment for rapid ad hoc analytics on large data sets that combined data from the warehouse with other data sets (market data, 3rd party lists, data from enterprise systems not yet flowing into the warehouse, prior analytics, etc.). MicroStrategy was selected by IT to address these business needs. Unfortunately, MicroStrategy tured out to not be the right tool for the job due to a combination of capability gaps and the constraints imposed by our own IT governance processes.
Our team of business analysts needed a nimble tool for ad hoc analytics. MicroStrategy required greater technical knowledge than our typical user possessed and the process of creating a new view was extremely cumbersome and time-consuming. We regularly needed to combine data from our warehouse with other data sources. While MicroStrategy has this capability, the level of technical knowledge required was beyond that of a typical business analyst and took too long. Part of the challenge was that our IT department imposed tight governance on the introduction of new data into the warehouse (which is common), so the minimum SLA on this process was 4 hours. This is simply not acceptable when a senior executive needs analysis for a decision right away. While I cannot fault MicroStrategy for our company's IT governance policy, they should add the capability to combine data from the warehouse with data outside the warehouse without requiring that it be added to the warehouse. While MicroStrategy has some light-weight and reasonably priced user licenses, the capabilities we needed for ad hoc analysis required a far more expensive user license.
5.0MSTR is being used by approximately three departments w/in Casey's. We plan on having MSTR be an enterprise-wide solution

4.0We use Microstrategy to create demonstration dashboards for our our analytics software. They have a fairly robust user community and they are getting better with each iteration. Beyond the way one has to manipulate the frames and maps, the software is powerful and useful for creating data visualization dashboards.
3.0Microstrategy is a great platform for mobile analytics and offers a lot of functionality out of the box. If you are looking for a solution that will cover 80% of your needs when it comes to mobile reporting then seriously consider Microstrategy.
