Paylocity is a user-friendly platform with modules for all the important HR functions. I like that it is flexible enough that we only pay for the features we want, and it's easy to upgrade as we grow. We started out with some more basic features, but as I had a better chance to assess what we would use, we've added several more modules. The process really couldn't have been easier! I really appreciate that Paylocity listens to feedback from the clients as well - there is a Feedback button right on the screen, where users can make suggestions for improvements or features we'd like to see. Paylocity uses those suggestions to create a roadmap of future developments, and I love getting the opportunity to contribute and then see what's coming next! My absolute favorite part is that Paylocity has enabled me to completely eliminate all paper from HR, and I no longer have to spend time filing. Managers can quickly drag and drop documents and files to an employee's record from anywhere; those things no longer get emailed to me, printed out, and stuffed into folders. The reduction in paper cuts alone makes Paylocity worth it! I can't really come up with a downside, it has been working well for us for about a year and a half now. There are a few areas where I would like to be able to do some formatting of text (like when I'm creating employee review forms in the Performance module.) I get a good response from my client services account manager, but sometimes if something needs to be escalated to another department, the process can be a little slow or they'll respond with an answer that doesn't actually answer my question. However, I've always been able to reach out to my account manager again and get the issue resolved. Paylocity solves so many problems for us! We have a team that is spread out over most of the midwest, and Community makes it easy for us to keep everybody connected. The Self Service Portal and document library let us go paperless, rather than printing and scanning forms and keeping personnel files in file cabinets. Employees are able to access training certificates and update their own contact information and direct deposit. We have Single Sign On set up, and integrations with our benefits and retirement plan providers greatly reduce time and errors from manual entry. As we've continued to grow, we're working on adding Learning Management as well. There have been a number of times lately where we've thought "It would be so nice to be able to create a training and assign it to everybody rather than trying to schedule a time when we can all get together and go over this..." I'm very excited to gain that ability in the near future!

The platform offers modules that suit our retail/small business needs. We run weekly payroll and haven't experienced any problems. Customer service is excellent and easy to reach. Their "community" module is a great feature for company communications, and it is fun! The "performance" module allows us to track and perform evaluations online, keeping that information readily accessible to our managers. We can finally see when reviews are overdue and hold managers accountable. The "survey" module makes it easy to conduct exit and stay interviews, pulse surveys, and pre-review peer surveys, and more. There are so many things to track in our business, and Paylocity has given us one platform with many tools that benefit our culture. Configuring the modules can be overwhelming. There is much work in configuring the program to function for specific policies and business needs. However, once it is configured it is well worth it. Each module has configurations and reporting functions, and since there is so much to learn, I run into frequent situations still where something doesn't work as expected. I'm still learning how to configure things at this point. Over time this will continue to improve and eventually will not be a problem. Their customer service is easy to reach and always helpful, so when I run into anything I can't quickly figure out via their built in knowledge base, they help me get the job done. Paylocity has given us the technology we need to better manage our team. Our managers have access to company documentation and tools for managing their teams' performance. We can better hold our managers accountable now that we know they have the right tools. Our team can keep up with ongoing communications in real time. We can also have some fun on this platform, which is an asset when retail culture is suffering everywhere. We were paying similar rates to a competitor before them and getting very little of the same technology. I'm glad we made the change. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! Were glad to hear that youre enjoying your experience with Surveys and Community. We are continually making improvements to deliver the solutions you need, and were happy that our products are helping you achieve your goals. If you'd like to discuss your experience further, we'd love to hear from you at PCTYAdvocate@paylocity.com.

Paylocity does not sit still. They're always improving the user experience for both admins and team members. The platform is mobile-friendly, making it easy to push adoption. As an HR Manager who also does payroll, I love how easy it is to navigate through employee files when I need answers. Updated Review: Service has become extremely poor from Paylocity. I work for a small employer, and it appears that our business is no longer important to them. We have a revolving door of "dedicated" account managers. When we call in for assistance, usually we are told that those answering the line can't help, and we need to wait for our account manager to resolve. I've even reached out to the CEO of Paylocity for assistance. I'll get a call and an email from someone in leadership saying that they will improve, but within 2-3 weeks we are back to the same issues. Once I get through open enrollment I will begin actively looking for a replacement payroll provider. Their service system can be slow to provide a response. Each company is assigned a dedicated Account Rep, but those reps are stretched very thin. You have to be the squeaky wheel in order to get a response on more complex problems. Updated Review: Forget Squeaky Wheel. You need a level of noise that is deafening in order to get any assistance. Hope you can do everything via self-service. By having a well integrated HRIS and payroll system, we are able to function with an HR and Payroll department of one. Team members are able to get the information they need without needing to get HR involved. That makes it simpler for everyone involved. I am sorry to hear about the issues you've had with service. It appears we missed the mark in some areas. Please reach out to PCTYAdvocate@paylocity.com and we'll work to fix these issues.

The people who work at Paylocity are really nice. We switched to Paylocity a month ago and its been nothing short of a NIGHTMARE! Here is a list of problems we encountered... 1. I sent Shelly (the lady setting up our account at Paylocity) all the information she requested, neatly organized and easy to read in an email. However, she entered in one of our employee's bank account number wrong so he did not get paid. Meanwhile, its a Friday and the funds that they took from our bank were in limbo somewhere between Paylocity and US Bank, and our employee is told he will not see those funds for another 4-7 days. This does not work for us or our employee and Paylocity refuses to front the money for this mishap so we had to issue our employee a manual check and wait the 4 days until Paylocity credits his payroll back to our account (for a small business this was a miracle that we could find the money to do this and it took hours on a Friday afternoon trying to find the funds so our employee wouldn't have to go the weekend w/o money). 2. Shelly entered our payroll frequency as semi-monthly instead of monthly, this made Paylocity miscalculate the amount of taxes to take from each employees' paychecks (all of us got shorted on our payroll). Of course Paylocity couldn't just give us the money back, it was supposed to take another 10 days before we saw this money but our employees needed the rest of their paychecks ASAP and AGAIN Paylocity was not willing to front the money for their mistake so we scrambled at the last minute to figure out how we can pay our employees the rest of their paychecks while Paylocity holds on to our cash! The 10 day period we were promised to see this money returned to us turned into 6 weeks (we STILL have not seen the $1300 Paylocity owes us!) 3. During all of this mix up, they had the nerve to bill us a second time for the processing of the additional payroll deposits (which was their mistake in the first place). When I called they promised us a refund right away, within 1-2 days. Of course I kept calling and told them we didn't see the refund and they kept assuring em it was coming. This turned into another 4 weeks before we actually saw the refund. 4. Shelly did not take out the Denver Occupational Privilege Tax from the employee's paycheck, so of course this was another thing to rectify during the chaos. They fixed this. 5. During the set up process, Shelly mixed up one of our employee's information with another one of our employee's. This is not a huge deal, I ddi actually catch it and change it in the system. 6. Shelly did not enter in the health insurance deductions from our employee's paycheck. Good thing I caught this before it was an issue. 7. Shelly had lots of typos in our company information page. Not a big deal, but her lack of attention to detail makes me wonder how she graduation high school. 8. We had given one of our employees an advance (manual check) before our first payroll was processed with Paylocity. Shelly entered this into the system wrong and actually sent him ANOTHER check from on our behalf! I shredded it! 9. Multiple times during our second payroll processing Ia asked her how much money was going to come out of our account and repeatedly she gave me the wrong amount and couldn't justify how she got to that number. Don't waste your time with Paylocity, they have cost us more time and money than we have resources for and we're not even completely out of the woods yet, they still owe us $1300 for their mistakes. Needless to say, we're switching to another company next month! Don't waste your time. They are the most unorganized frustrating company to work with. What can go wrong with their processes DOES GO WRONG. They manage to screw up everything! We moved to Paylocity to simplify our payroll processing. Were a small company and were doing it all manually, but Paylocity just made it worse. Their mistakes have cost is thousands of dollars, and so much time that couldn't afford fixing their mistakes. Their attention to detail caused mistakes in our payroll processing and we suffered for it. Hello - Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While every implementation brings its own challenges, this is certainly NOT the level of service we aim to deliver to our clients. For that, I am very sorry! I have sent this feedback on to our Service Management team so that they can work to resolve the situation and hopefully regain your support. If you wouldn't mind, could you please email me your contact information so that I can escalate this issue to the right people? My email is email@example.com. Thank you for your time and again, I'm very sorry for the issues you've been dealing with. Erik Cain Paylocity

The integration with our 401 Plan. Giving each other "achievements" - though the newness of that wore off so no one uses it now. Literally everything else.... The demo I saw is different than what was rolled out and I felt I was overpromised on what the product could do. No sandbox to "play around" to see how the product works. The implementation was a fulltime job for almost a month straight. I would have walked away from the beginning had I known it was going to be such a time suck. I talked to Paylocity more than my family. Multiple conference calls, follow up calls, calls about the calls. It was ridiculous. They need to be upfront with that. As a department of one with other duties, it was too much. Time & Labor Implementation was a nightmare, and there are issues that still exist 6 months later that I cannot get sorted out. The girl that handled this piece was horrible. She didn't return my multiple calls because "she thought I was someone else", no-showed on scheduled calls, and ignored emails. After finding problems post-implementation she sent pre-canned emails to contact customer service. The majority of the issues I have are in that module. "Customer Service" is non-existent. I send over URGENT requests to the generic email, and it takes weeks to get a response. I have left "urgent" phone messages for our "rep" and she does not return calls. (I had a dedicated rep with Paychex that responded within an hour). The scheduling module does not allow staff to see who else is working and when which is pointless. We have to use an outside calendar to let people know who else is working. This is probably the most frustrating piece since it affects the entire staff, I am constantly reminded that they "hate this stupid program". When I bring this up, Paylocity does not understand why seeing the whole schedule would be useful. Some sort of glitch reset everyone's PTO balances back to their original balances from the beginning of the year. Still trying to fix this. Paylocity says it was set up wrong, ok. But why did it work before? There are probably employees with negative PTO since we are still trying to sort this out. Holidays were setup wrong so I have to manually fix checks. Still trying to get this sorted too. The app does not record clock-in /out times properly, so people constantly "miss" their punch out. I had to constantly chase people to find out when they worked and just wound up disabling mobile access altogether. I am suspicious of the glowing reviews. How is this the same product I use? The only real problem solved is the 401 data integration. This used to be done manually, but does not save any significant amount of time. I created more work using Paylocity. There are too many different screens and places to change information. I have not used all of the tools in Paylcity, because I am still trying to get the basic functions of the program to function as they should. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Based on your comments, its clear weve missed the mark in meeting your expectations. Were absolutely committed to helping improve your experience. Your review was anonymous, which we respect, so if you are interested, we'd be happy to connect you with some of our service and implementation leadership to diagnose your needs and see if we can help set things on a better course. You can contact us at PCTYAdvocate@paylocity.com, and we'll take it from there.

Employee Self Service is great for the basics. Do not count on the leave information to be accurate because web pay and web time do NOT communicate until the payroll has been completed, so there is a lag. It's the same company and platform, I don't understand why web time and web pay aren't real time updates. Security issues - trying to onboard employees and then my information populates under the new hires name in Web Pay for hours. Brought it to Paylocity - got the "we'll pass it on and get back to you." they never get back to you. OH YEAH. THEY RARLEY GET BACK TO YOU! If it's beyond the scope of their job, they just ignore the issue and hope it goes away - just like the security issue I mentioned above. Messed up our 1095-c's by asking me to check a "Preview" file for accuracy, only that wasn't the file they were referring to. They call the "FINAL" file the "Preview" file. Seems in their heads that makes sense. Sent our company two bad batches of 1095-c's because they never updated the "FINAL" file before printing. Shows a total lack of common sense and follow through. Performance Review system is a nightmare. First the link from the old performance review section in self service is broken because Paylocity moved it to a "Talent" tab and never cross-walked the two. I mean how hard can that be to do? I have asked for it to be completed because our employees are constantly confused by the broken link. I was told "We'll put in a ticket and get back to you." NEVER HEARD A WORD BACK. Managers are constantly complaining, because they sit down to type up the review and then Paylocity times out without any warning. Why can't Paylocity auto save the performance review? In many cases - they lose the entire review and have to start over. I called Paylocity - "Yep, they have to do it again - nothing we can do." REALLY? I've worked with some great IT departments and I assure you - there is a lot that can be done. This happens to our employees too. The majority of our employees and managers hate the review process now. Web Time has been offline numerous times at crucial times of the day first thing in the morning, lunch time or the end of the day. It usually happens when everyone needs it. When I've called Paylocity to find out what is going on, they act like the system is fine - even when I send them screen shots showing the page error "Down Due to System Maintenance" with the Paylocity logo. You will never find these outages on their systems page either. Paylocity is always working. It's like they try to hide the problems from the higher-ups. The news section need serious updating. In order to make a decent looking announcement, I have to work it up in publishing and save it as a jpeg, otherwise you can waste so much time just trying to make it work. The reporting is terrible too. Every single one has to be saved in Excel and seriously reworked/mashed together to get the information we need. I never thought I would say this, but Paylocity makes me miss Banner! Make sure you can live with poor customer service and support. The system is far from perfect and they do not take suggestions or act on issues within their system. Onboarding, Payroll, HR, Time Keeping. The benefit is having everything in an electronic format. The onboarding is probably the best Paylocity feature, though they just completed an update and now the signature pads are super unresponsive.

Our overall experience was not good and I definitely would not recommend this product for large companies or international companies. We switched to Ceridian, after having Paylocity for a little over a year and the entire time we had Paylocity we had a lot of troubles with functionality.

Ultimate - terrible customer service, not user-friendly, outdated technology, over priced. You have to submit a ticket online, half the time they don't respond and if they do it takes forever. You can't pick up the phone and talk to anyone because they don't give you a dedicated Rep. Their custom fields are very limited and its hard to report on them. There are only certain areas within the system where you can create custom fields. Their reporting capabilities are robust, but it is extremely difficult to use. It takes forever to try and produce a report. They don't have very many standard reports out there. Recruiting system is not robust at all, although they say an update is coming soon. It's nearly impossible to search for resumes by keyword - it will pull up about 500 at a time. No Org chart, which is a huge disappointment. ADP - Not a user friendly system, multiple disjointed systems/modules. Customer service was pretty good at the time.Paychex - Not a user friendly system, multiple disjointed systems/modules (payroll & reporting system, along with everything else). I only had one dedicated Rep that provided good customer service. All of the other Reps really lacked the ability to provide good service (lack of knowledge of the system, didn't understand payroll or the codes we used).
I would definitely recommend Paylocity to anyone who is considering a new Payroll/HRIS. If you have other systems that you currently use, such as timekeeping, I would recommend finding out how the integration works. It might be easier to purchase their module than to use your own. Another important question to ask when researching Paylocity is customizations - What is the client allowed to customize in the system vs. what Paylocity can do. Some Co's out there don't allow for customizations or they charge you every time you want to change something (Ultimate Software, NOT Paylocity).
All in one system - Payroll, HRIS, Applicant Tracking, Onboarding, Benefits, ReportWriter, Safety/OSHA, Timekeeping. You don't have multiple disjointed systems/modules. Everything is a seamless integration, whether you use their modules or not. Easily Integrates with other systems. You can swap out ATS or use theirs, easily integrates with other timekeeping systems, as well as other Learning Management Systems. Easy to use for HR and Employees Electronic Signatures for forms, handbooks, documents, etc PAYLOCITY CUSTOM FIELDS - You can easily utilize over 140 custom fields that are available (payroll/HR custom drop-downs, text fields, check box, date fields, and text fields). In addition to the ability to easily create a custom field without ever having to rely on Paylocity for setting it up; all custom fields can be reporting on.
ReportWriter - dashboard is limited to headcount, employee status, would be nice if the functionality was expanded. Implementation - Unfortunately we ended up with an incompetent Rep who didn't understand our payroll or our codes. He was responsible for getting everything uploaded from the old system to the new system. He made multiple mistakes, most of which I had to catch on my own! They do not offer a dedicated Rep for implementation (unless you are a large Co). I would suggest asking for one, regardless of size!

We had a pretty bad experience with ADP Total Source, so moving the Paylocity was the best thing we ever did. ADP TS is a PEO and not only do they charge so much, it is also very restrictive for the organization. WE had used ADP a stand alone before moving to Total Source, that wasn't too bad, but still not nearly as great as Paylocity.
Honestly, I think overall Paylocity is really great and I can't imagine where it would not be appropriate to have them as your payroll company. Even my biggest complaint, re their staff being less knowlegeable than they were when we first moved over to Paylocity, is bound to get better with time and experience.
Moving from previous payroll to Paylocity was very smooth. Certainly better than I had expected it would be. Functionality of the payroll is great and is easy to use Online resources are great They hooked us up with an HR resource company which has also been very helpful
Missing functionality - we have some employees that work in 2 departments. When it comes to approving time worked, only one department head can approve. This makes no sense since the data is there when they clock in and out, and there pay is divided between the departments correctly. As mentioned earlier, I feel that something changed when Covid hit. Staff had always been exceptionally knowledgeable about the product. But since Covid, they seem so much less so. We have had a couple of issues with onboarding new employees from time to time, especially connected with I9 information. It always gets resolved, though recently with this issue, someone at Paylocity gave the payroll administrator completely wrong information. (again, I think this "wrong information" would not have happened prior to Covid)

ADP and TriNet (PEO). ADP is a very powerful product, but can also be clunky, glitchy and too robust for certain companies that aren't ready for and/or don't need all that they provide (and charge for). TriNet was a hassle because too much had to be run through their people, nothing was customizable and reporting was difficult and limited.
It would be a perfect fit for small companies that are in the process of growing and/or are looking for a first full service payroll vendor. It is also perfect for mid-sized companies who don't have use for multiple "bells and whistles" like recruiting, resume database, tracking international employees, etc.
Payroll preview process was flawless. I always knew my payroll was perfect before posting. Previews took only moments, instead of having to post, wait for reports, review them, reject the batch if there was an error, wait for 10 minutes to pass before posting again, etc. like another payroll program does. I liked that my exempts could view their vacation balances & request time off without having to bother with the timecard system. The accruals were very easy to maintain and manage. Very good value for the price! I was paying about a quarter of what I was spending on another system for all the same functions I needed to use. Strong reporting module was easy and intuitive to use. Single sign for all the modules was awesome.
Ability for managers to enter changes for their employees, i.e. salary, department, job title, etc. and have it routed electronically to the appropriate people for approval. Ability to maintain international employee data, even if not processing their payroll through Paylocity. Ability to add custom fields for other non-payroll related data.

I've used this at two other places of work and is far superior to Paylocity. Kronos is much simpler to use and support was superior.
The onboarding process was quite painful as the representatives we were assigned were not easy to get ahold of. One lady was pretty good but the other was awful to deal with. Overall repeated requests for help and for items to be uploaded on their side were not handled with any kind of urgency. Even when escalating this to their boss we received very little acknowledgment and assistance to resolve issues. It was rare to have one of these representatives follow through on anything they said they would do. I also think the way the divide onboarding leaves the customer stuck between two people and makes it extremely difficult to gain momentum as you are bounced between people. The app is great! It's user-friendly and clean. The website we use to administrate is convoluted and not intuitive. The way you have to bounce back and forth from Time/Labor to HR/Payroll is annoying when the common items you're looking for are timecard/pto related. I would NOT every choose to use Paylocity at any future company I work at and if things don't get any better I will be recommending we find another system to use. My latest request for assistance continued to highlight the overall lack of understanding around customer service. I requested help with a PTO issue that was systemic to our entire population and I was sent an email with a video that didn't explain what was happening and didn't address all the issues I outlined. At the same time I get another email thanking me for my time with the agent to get said issue resolved and wanted me to fill out a survey about the solution that was provided. It's clear that this was a transaction being closed and not a customer being helped. Pretty sad.
Viewing personal paychecks Viewing personal clock in and out times Viewing PTO balances
The onboarding of this software was awful and the representatives we were assigned were hard to reach. The ongoing support has been subpar and a continuation of the onboarding process we experienced There is a general lack of understanding about what it is to provide good customer service. We've seen this at every level we've engaged. Escalating issues didn't help

Our brokerage partners with our clients to implement, support and integrate Employee Benefits with Paylocity. In my experience, Paylocity's team is very segmented (i.e. Benefits, Payroll, ACA) with no cross training-this limits the amount of help Paylocity can provide when integrating Benefits without getting many employees involved and trying to implement and schedule with this segmented approach is challenging. Paylocity also does not have an implementation plan or project plan when working with the client/broker and this leaves a lot to be desired in understanding what is expected and without a timeline provided by Paylocity, there is a lot of unknown. The process could be much more streamlined and make it a better user experience. I have been in this industry for 15 years and while Paylocity's technology is outstanding, the "self service" of providing documents instead of a dedicated implementation manager to walk the client through the process is frustrating.
Paylocity has amazing technology. If someone is well versed in Payroll/Benefits, this would be an ideal platform for them, as much of it is Self Service. If you have someone who is more green to HR/Payroll/Benefits, the setup is daunting and there isn't a lot of support provided, leaving the client with a lot of frustrations. The Paylocity team is also very junior and segmented in what they are trained on and that leaves a lot of unanswered questions when you do have someone at Paylocity's attention.
Lack of cross training Lack of implementation plan/timeline Lack of Team structure Too many inexperienced employees Limited availability, especially since our team in in CT based on Paylocity and not in the client's timezone. Self - Service structure for client without hands on assistance or dedicated team/implementation manager

Our organization uses many of Paylocity's features, including payroll, time-tracking/approvals, benefits administration, HR, PTO/sick leave, etc.
Unfortunately, our organization had an extremely poor implementation experience. Like many, our industry has some unique payroll tracking and reporting requirements; however, through numerous meetings, Paylocity's salespeople and implementation specialists ensured the product could handle these requirements out of the box. With consultation from Paylocity's team, we scheduled over three months to implement and test the product before going live for a stress-free experience. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite of what was promised. In addition to breaking numerous commitments and being misadvised by our implementation specialist on multiple occasions, we were not re-assigned an implementation specialist for over a month, which pushed us past our "go-live" date. Ultimately, we had to self-implement the product to a large degree. After seven months with the product, we are still waiting on promised fixes to multiple issues. We have tried for months to address these experiences and concerns with Paylocity's Director of Implementation Services and other higher-ups. Unfortunately, our e-mails go unanswered for weeks, and the short responses we receive don't address the topics we have raised. Our team has lots of experience migrating large systems from one software provider to another; while these projects are always nuanced and challenging, we've never experienced the lack of support and integrity that we experienced with Paylocity.
Easy to use for users and administrators Well designed and executed product Stable service
Poor support Poor implementation and consultation services Lack of support and integrity from account managers

Time and Efficiency Savers: 1)We were able to go from a paper based evaluation process to an electronic based process with Paylocity. 2) We we able to go from a paper expense report to an electronic based process where the expense flowed automatically from employee to supervisor to their paycheck. 3) ACA reporting is handled by Paylocity. 4) Benefits Open Enrollment is now electronic with Paylocity. The employee elections, changes, deletions, all flow from HR directly to the carriers. No more having to log-in to various carrier portals to make these changes. 5) File feeds are big time saver. 6) We saved money on employee training courses by using the training courses offer by Paylocity. 7) Paylocity offers many compliance dashboards that saves time and money as it flags errors in real time.
Functionality and Customer Service
1) You have a dedicated Account Manager. 2) I have worked with a few payroll companies during my HR tenure and Paylocity by far is the best product on the market. It is so user friendly. Employees love it because it is easy to use, it has a mobile app, and anything they need related to payroll and benefits is in one place. 3) Transferring from our old payroll company to Paylocity was an easy transition. Paylocity provides you with a dedicate account manager for payroll and time entry. The do all the work. 4) Compliance with Paylocity cannot get an easier. There are Compliance Dashboards, ACA Reporting Dashboards, Year End Reporting Dashboards. Everything is configured in the system and ready for your review in each of the Dashbaords. 5) Paylocity has the most user friendly Reporting feature I've seen in any product. Lots of standard reports. Easy to use custom reporting featuring. 6) Lots of module that you add as you need, Perf Mgmt, Expenses, Recruting, On-Boarding, to name a few. 7) Performance Mgmt module is so easy to set and customize to your needs. Employees loved using it. It includes a Journal feature that the managers can keep notes throughout the year.
No Cons. I've used other payroll companies in the past, Paylocity far exceeds all of them.

Overall, I've been really really with Paylocity. I think they've done a really fantastic job updating the system for COVID related issues such as FFCRA, ERC, etc. For that, I am very very very thankful.
When I arrived, the company was ready to make a switch but I spent a little time learning Paylocity and we ended up staying. From what I understand, the service was significantly improved from the company's prior experience and for that I am very thankful for. I'm really happy we stuck it out with Paylocity and found a way to make everything work.
The customer service is really great. I am able to call my dedicated service person any day of the week and they know me and my needs. If my dedicated service person is ever unavailable, then the other reps i contact are very helpful as well.... you don't see this with every HRIS system. They also seem to care about our requests for system improvements which I think is critical. I find this system fairly easy to use given my experience with other systems. The reporting is good for the most part although some custom reports cost extra which is not cool. I have really enjoyed the in-person conference offered to clients especially since they let clients meet one-on-one with the actual product developers and ask questions and make suggestions for needed upgrades. Upgrades come on a regular basis and are available to users immediately without changing "products" which is fantastic compared to some other vendors.
The modules i am not using like applicant tracking, recruitment, onboarding, benefits management, etc. aren't really built out enough to make them worth the high price. I still have to use other software for all of those services because i've found better vendors that do most of what i need and they aren't as expensive as the Paylocity add-on. It's too bad, because I'd really like to use one system for everything. Upper management is not accessible which is disappointing. There is no way to add volunteers and independent contractors into the HRISI system for free - this is usually available from HRIS systems.

It processes payroll down to the local level accurately and on time. The system can also track employee performance which we use for routine employee reviews. It is nice having an all in one solution for my HR needs.
The customer service is fantastic and really easy to work with. I like the company. As to the software, it does what I need it to. They process the payroll on time and without errors. Getting it setup can be time consuming but once it is setup, fairly easy to use. I am also an internet based business with employees in several different states. They are able to process payroll for all of the tax jurisdictions down to the local level. The software saves me countless hours every month/year.
The software doesn't 'just work' for a couple of reasons. The first, you can screw the system up and there are plenty of ways to do so. You have to know how it works, so the system isn't dummy proof. Second, there are a few items where you have to game the system to get it to work. As in, if you don't put a check mark here it won't do what you want but it isn't intuitive enough to know you need that check mark. It isn't the best for small business. And I do get the feeling the system is built for larger enterprises. There are a few minor features missing that I have used in other systems that help run a small team. Like being able to sync my outlook calendar to PTO requests or birthdays. You can export those dates, but it won't automatically show up in your calendar like other systems do. While there is a portal for employees, my employees have a hard time understanding how to use it. It isn't super complicated but also not super intuitive. I don't have a problem as the administrator of the system because I am in there all of the time. But for employees that might log in once every couple of months, it can be kinda annoying for them.

I have been pleased with Paylocity and the support.
We came to Paylocity in 2017. I had been tracking ACA manually in Microsoft Dynamics GP because at that time, it did not have that functionality without add-on software. I love the Paylocity ACA module - it has freed me up to focus on other things plus I'm quite sure it is more accurate than I was able to be with my huge Excel spreadsheets. It also makes quick work of the EEOC and worker's comp reports - both are pretty much a simple report you pull.
I like that I can always call and get help if I ever forget how to access a feature or perform a task. I've also been impressed with Paylocity's ability to stay on top of the legislative changes over the past year (mainly due to COVID-19).
We've recently seen a demonstration of a competitor that would help my co-worker in HR. The competitor's software can track when licensing, etc. is going to expire and automatically send email or text reminders to the employee and follows up to make sure they complete the task. They also have a way for employees to acknowledge receipt of documents specific to them. Paylocity's system (as of the last time I checked) only allows you to make the documents available to all staff whether or not it applies to them.

Overall, my experience with Paylocity has been very beneficial. Each obstacle that our company has faced in terms of HR and payroll, Paylocity has been able to guide us through. Paylocity is a great platform for facilitating and administrating employment details.
This software comprehensively ties together many aspects of a human resources department. This makes it easy for a small business owner who may not necessarily need to hire a individual dedicated human resources to facilitate the necessary components of providing wholesome employment. Paylocity has strong reporting and data processing in addition to robust customer support that effectively and efficiently help troubleshoot potential obstacles.
It seems that some aspects of the software don't exactly tie together. For example, when entering an hourly employee group in HR and Payroll, I often forget to add them into employee groups in time and labor. Subsequently, the supervisor has no way of tracking the employee's timecard. Additionally managing benefits in the employee's payroll file versus the HR file. Although this may be because our company does not fully utilize the benefits package that Paylocity offers.

Our overall experience has been very positive. The implementation process went smoothly and felt like we had a good team at Paylocity helping us get started with the product. The system was able to meet our pretty sophisticated needs and has been a very good investment if you are looking to move into a more user-friendly product.
We made the switch because we needed a software that was a little bit more sophisticated and more connected across all of its programs. Netchex could be a very good tool for some companies, but we needed one that was a little bit more advanced for our needs.
Some of the best parts of this product is how everything is connected and works well together. There is no disjointed feeling as you move from one part of the software to the next. This makes life as an HR professional, payroll preparer, or general accountant a lot easier. We appreciate being able to place all of our HR processes and especially onboarding into Paylocity and eliminate a lot of busy work behind the scenes.
We wish the workflow software was a little bit further along but we have been told it is a priority in development right now so that is good to hear.
